I got chills listening to this guys,,,,,i remembered growing with my mother struggling hustling so we can eat and now she didn't even wait to enjoy...,, "Africa please UNITE,," we can be better than this western continents,,,😪😴.
When I first watched this Ras Kimono man perform at the National Theatre in Accra as a child in 1993, I'm now 43 and missing his voice. RIP Ras Kimono ! Jah Rastafari rest your soul.
First heard about Ras Kimono in 1993. Watched him perform "Under Pressure" at the URTNA awards in Nairobi, if I'm not mistaken. Respect (from Zambia) to the memory of this great Nigerian/African man
I still remember him clearly. We lived in the same building with his sister and her family. And he lived next to my classmate back then. I had the chance of knowing the man personally. He was such a great guy in and out.
Still vibing 2021 ♥️♥️♥️ too bad we don't have musicians like this in Nigeria, the present ones only sing about women drugs and all sorts of rubbish. One love baba you'll always be remembered.
During Ra's Kimono's time, Nigeria was still under military dictatorship. There wasn't any internet and scammers were quite unknown. People were a bit more innocent and all equally oppressed in daily living. With the rise of democracy in 1999 came more freedoms and shortly after, the introduction of the internet about 2000/01. Quickly followed by the radicalisation of internet scams. Jobless youth just copied scam formats from each other and scammed the hell out of western world. Internet in Nigeria was mostly a novelty. There wasn't any Nigerian websites for information, banking or any other transactions. So we didn't "USE" the internet for anything. We just looked at it like one sort of clickly Television. The first set of scammers who got away with it began the big boys lifestyle. And their wealth was never questioned by society. It is the guilt on that sin that led them to propagate the immoral music videos that now fills the Nigerian song space.
He is a legend no doubts! But we do have some good artist that took after the likes of him, Fela, and many more, I recommend you to listen to Tino Baba
@@JohnFekoloid You are right, but what's your take or opinion on scamming? Do you think it's wise or improper? But I have to remind you that these so call western world scammed us first.
@@princessblessingogheneruro243 My take on scamming? Two wrongs don't make a right. Because western world did it first (slavery etc), doesn't mean we shound now turn round and scam them back. At least they gave us Education. What pains me, is that we have refused to use this Education to develop our own industries to produce our own goods to develop our own economy. We can't even refine our own crude oil got from our own ground. We have to keep sending the stuff overseas for Western people to refine for us and SELL back to us AT THEIR PRICE. And so we remain scammed AGAIN! $1 = N600 instead of $1 = N1, because we refused to run our industries to produce our things but still keep on IMPORTING everything. Scamming is not right. And we should not do it. But again, we are not even using our sense to do the correct processes.
One of the reggae prophet of our time ; When this song was released Nigerians were eating rice, chicken and stew but come 2023 to 2024 the full meaning of this song under pressure comes to full manifestation.
Really a prophetic song...how I wish you are still alive to see the reality of your song....SAPA & Pressure in Naija now. To the next generations, dont let This Lovely and great music die.❤❤
I grew up with my dad playing this song over and over again. Each morning and morning and evening, blasting the whole neighborhood back in the late 90s. God bless Raski mono
What a prophet you were! I think the song , first released approx 30years ago actually refers to our present reality in Nigeria in 2023! Under pressure!! No naira notes, no fuel, no food in our bellies still!
Raskimono spiced up my childhood days. He was one of the real prophets as at then. We're all under pressure, Europe, America, Africa. Rest well legend. Your name has been written in the sands of time. Respect man! 🙌
As a kid then, I knew this great great vibe.As a Zambian,my soccer loving nation would have this Nigerian, but global hit play each time Zambian was under pressure on the pitch.I miss Ras Kimono for real.
Ajakubo kubo e ( whirlwind oh whirlwind e) Ajakubo kubo oh ( whilwind oh whirlwind o) Ajakubo kubo me-ri me-mo ( whirlwind oh whirlwind i cant see , i dont know) Me ma mo aja gbomo gba o (Where the whirlwind has taken the child )
Continue to live on in your deep and insightful music. Thanks for making my childhood memorable late Ras Kimono. Under pressure is still our present reality today in Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.
When I was still a kid I wondered why my dad loves this song and other old once, but when I got matured I got the answer myself, evergreen you'll always be remembered
The real raggae prophets Isaac black, Raskimono, majek Fashek, fela, Andy shurman, oriz williki and more knew the Nigeria economical political future, so sad dat is only few dat listens to them. Their literal piece lives in our hearts 💓, rest on the late beloved Rastafarian. U are not forgotten
It must have been in 1994 when I first listened to this song. I remember an uncle of mine coming home from the University with a radio cassette and a tape containing this song. Ofcourse, as kids we had no idea what the song was all about, but we sang along in our own different funny ways anyway
This is the REAL music they should be playing for Nigeria now This people has seen the future....Now look at what us happening to nigerian now RIP Kimono
Being looking for this for years now, my Ex girlfriend Mum introduced me to this song, it was her best song, I'm glad to find this melody. Rest well Ras Kimolo 🙌
I’m sure all the Zambians who grew up in the ‘90s when tv used to start at 5pm and close at midnight will remember this one. 😂 Would play of ZNBC almost everyday.
Listening 7/8/24 ... unbelievable.. I had no radio when this song was released I was in class 7... I felt left out... now I have music machine to tune anytime... Long live African Spiritualism
From the first time l watched him perform at nairobi URTNA awards l have had this lasting impression of his awesome music. Ras Kimono rest in peace from Zambia♥️🙏
Ras Kimono was a prophet... The pressure is increasing only God can rescue this world... Imagine the war in Ukraine and the level of insecurity and economic failure in Nigeria...
Remember when my Dad usually plays Ras kimono songs. This was my favorite track then. The pressure was very mild then, Today Nigerian's are really under pressure.
