Ive been singing this song back when I was in 5th grade 2013 because of my sister who had a project involving Malaysian Folk Songs. I was addicted to it to the point I sing and hum it at school. My classmates even called me weird - called me out often. I just wanted to be happy :'D ONLY TO FIND OUT THEY BE DANCING AND LIP SINCING IT IN 2022 - bruh moment for me :') Edit: It was Indonesian! This song has more Malay-Portuguese influence more than Dutch influence unlike other Maluku folk Ambonese dialect based songs. Portuguese come to Malacca before they arrived to Maluku, the Portuguese ethnic still exists in Malaysia but not in Maluku. Thus, Rasa Sayang is from Malaysia originally from Malacca since 1511. This song have been acknowledged as Malay archipelago/Nusantara heritage instead as both came from the same roots and language.
