This is perhaps the most popular Christmas song in Finland. It is a poem by Zacharias Topelius from 1859. The poem echoes Topelius' own grief: his son Rafael died when he was only one year old in the spring of the year before the poem was written. That's why it is so melancholic. There is a saying: "Finns have two kinds of songs - sad and very sad" 😄

Great reaction, and you are right this song is sad. But man, what a song. Marko, as always, just kills it. His singing is so emotive, and the solo was amazing. All of the musicians just do a fantastic job. Keep rockinbg.

Finnish christmas songs are really, really sad. Although most finnish songs are. Happiest country in the world has people with dark and sad souls.

Our christmast songs are quite melancholic here in finland but they have hope in them ❤ we cherish them and they are old and very dear to us ❤

Another reaction suggestion: JP Leppäluoto,. He's the first one singing in the version of Little Drummer Boy that you reacted to. In my opinion he is Finland's best voice. There's a fan-shot video from some years back of him performing a song called "Konstan Joululaulu" ("Konsta's Christmas Carol") that's actually quite good quality, and his performance is incredible.
