One thing I noticed is that there was some motion of the board while it was being soldered. This can cause what is called a 'disturbed' solder joint. It is good practice to keep the parts you are soldering still to prevent disturbed solder joints. It would also help if you used a smaller soldering tip, the one you used was way too big.

saving as main.py was not necessary, just use the green run button to run the current active code window, thonny also has a tree view for both pc and pico files, rightclick on any filename to transfer it to the other tree-window. but it is a nice kit, sad that the docs were not tested by a noob before printing.

Do we really have to solder the pins to the pico? in the video the pins look like they are already making a pretty good contact even without the solder

Mine needed soldering, they were a loose fit before.

I think you need to solder the pins so that it will keep stady when your move around the device.

If you can code your own program it may work or you could buy a pi zero 2w which has hdmi output. You would still need the correct software

You could have just dragged the files over onto the lib while in drive mode, I think Also when you click play on the computer for the script, I believe it's using the code on the page not the main.py, so you can test the code all you want without the need to save it, when you have it right then you save it and unconnect the pico so it can run on its own

nope, drive mode is exclusively for uf2 files, for micropython upgrade or C compiled file ...

I have a different way to upload the main.py and libs file to pico, just using rshell to connect to pico ,and then use command cp to copy my lib file to /lib folder and it is so easy under Raspberry Pi OS via command line~ LoL, I love command line style, so i am using vim editor to write the code.
