Note: Compatible with 4B ONLY. Now available at: carousell.app.link/IN5D2hoVcpb For those who are interested in setting up Picoreplayer, please refer to my blog below: smhp-hk.blogspot.com/2021/07/...
Just an update. I received my kit from Vincent today.I paid for the kit and will be providing an honest impression of it. Initial impression is amazing. Excellent packing, the quality of the materials are top notch and shipping was super fast. I will be posting a kit opening video or thread on Audiokarma in the coming days. So far Vincent, WELL DONE!
I just finished my kit from Vincent. Excellent packing job. Everything is well labeled. Super fast shipping to the USA. The kit went together very smoothly and looks great! Highly Recommended!
Vincent I think it would be good for you to add a link to your blog with your instructions for setting up picoreplayer. There were a few settings such as screen rotation that needed to be set.
Thanks. The RCA socket holes are already there. And both RCA jacks and covers are included. My thought was that the RCA jacks do not cost much, but if there are included, it would be more convenient and less costly if users want to include them in the future.
HI Vincent ! Very nice work and exiting kit .. I tried to buy on Carrousel but it seems that it's not available right now ? When do you think i can buy one for my system ?
Hi Vincent, is shipping to the UK possible ? I'm a bit nervous about soldering the circuit board, are there easy to understand instructions on how to do that please ?
Hi Mark, yes, shipping to UK is possible but the FedEX is the only choice at the moment. Postal service to overseas countries is ceased in HK. There are symbols on both the BOM (included in the kit) and the PCB (such as Q1, U1, R1, etc). You can just match the symbols and solder them. Most of them cannot be messed up because of different footprint. Just pay attention to PNP transistor and LM317 and not to mess them up (they look the same, but there are tiny marks on the IC case). A simple guide is also included in the kit. Hope it helps.
I looked at this kit and would have picked up two but for two things missing: 1) Black face to match my home theater. 2) HDMI out [I have 1 box with 2 x HDMI out (1 video, the other audio) and another box with 1 x HDMI out (audio)]. This kit looks to be very well designed. If I had a silver face system, I would have still gone for the kit and drilled holes for HDMI out. If it ever comes out anodized black, I will probably be one of the first customers.
Hi Tom, thanks for your interest and suggestion. Currently the kit comes with a silver faceplate but I will work on a new anodized black panel. Will let you know once it's ready. Regarding the HDMI out, I believe you don't need to drill a hole for it, just replace one of the two D-type sockets with a HDMI socket and connect it to the micro-HDMI port of Pi 4. Something like this: hken.rs-online.com/web/p/hdmi-connectors/1246388
@@BTom16 Hi Tom, the black version is available now. For more details please visit Check out 'DIY Raspberry Pi Streamer / Transport / Player KIT', available at HK$1,600 on #Carousell: carousell.com/p/1145507551
Hi, I think it's not difficult to install the the "Hifiberry Digi2 Pro" in it. Personally I don't own this Hifiberry DDC but it should be simple by just soldering the BNC and COAXIAL outputs to the D-type sockets at the back panel. Here's a reference with Allo Digione Sig: facebook.com/photo?fbid=572447707908913&set=pcb.572448891242128 Unfortunately this KIT is sold out. There is a new version with 7" QLED display, please check it out at: carousell.app.link/qxVaTTbhXsb
Kit looks great, I am interested in getting kit but can't seem to text at Facebook. What is total in US dollars including kit and shipping to New York, US.
Hi Eric, thanks for your interest. Total cost (including the kit and shipping fee) to NY is USD355. Please be noted that the kit doe NOT include a Raspberry Pi or a DAC HAT. Compatible with Pi 4B only.
Hi Chandu, can ship to India but I'm not sure why the shipping cost with FedEx is so high though geographically India is close. Shipping cost would be USD130, plus the cost of the kit USD225.
Hi John, thanks for your interest. I'm sorry that K3 was already EOLed. Successors are R23-MAX (1024x600) and STEALTH (1280x400). I don't think you can buy capacitive screens locally in HK. They are only available online.
@@johnsnowlow1883 I'm afraid not. Sham Shui Po shops sell fewer DIY parts (except for caps and resistors). Not much demand for touch screens parts. You can probably order from online and send to your hotel.
@@vincentfong4154 Well, i mean using the benefits of the case to cooldown the cpu of the pi. Other idea : thinking of temperature control with pwm and with a 9cm to 12cm fan for no noise. I think you are now about 53*C. Would be nice to have 40*C.
@@johnlenfr I think it is possible to use a thin metal bar to transfer the heat from the processor to the metal case. Alternatively there are large heat sinks in the market which can do the job. I don't measure the temperature intentionally but so far the Pi has been running PCP for more than a year without any glitch. Personally I don't think it's a good idea using a fan for audio devices.
Dimensions are: 215(W) x 100(H) x 245(D). Please be noted that no Raspberry Pi or DAC is included. The kit itself costs USD225, which is equivalent to EUR201 based on today's currency rate. Shipping cost to Italy is USD125 with FedEx. Hope it helps.
@@vincentfong4154 thanks for informations. other request: is there the assembly manual in the kit? Don't have another courier to use with a lower cost? Is it possibile to have a list of material of the kit? Thanks. Have a good day.
@@francescovitiello2419 I'd say there is a simple guide instead of a complete manual. The assembly is quite straight forward, screws and other items are packed individually for each part (i.e. you will have a small plastic bag for back panel, another small plastic bag for front panel, etc). UPS, FedEx and DHL have similar shipping rates, but FedEx is preferred becos of reliability and easy-to-use system, so I will keep FedEx as the only option at the moment. Please refer to the link below for the complete BOM: drive.google.com/file/d/1yL-F2Thn-lqf-FSt8_nAME6FJo9kLSND/view?usp=sharing
@@francescovitiello2419 Thanks Francesco. DAC should not be a problem becos you still have lots of choices from different vendors, but Raspberry Pi might be a problem. Price of Pi 4 keeps increasing, it might not be easy find one nowadays. Good luck.
