Your level shifter is wrong! The 2K2 is parallel to the output and only represents a load. The 1K in series with the internal protection diodes limit the voltage. I use a 74lvc08 that can withstand 5 volts and outputs 3V3. Four AND gates, one input pin I put on vcc then the output corresponds to the input. A 74hct08 can be used in the other direction.

I did not get the same result..im using a device called reTerminal by seed. I have a script im running in it reading a PMS5003 sensor. I need serial connection and i keep needing to run chmod 666 to open the port.. i want to not do that.

Hi, I have installed Ubuntu 20 on Rpi4 and I tried the steps you mentioned in the video to swap /dev/serial0 -> ttyS0 and /dev/serial1 -> ttyAMA0 and updated the config.txt and cmdline.txt but still, no change is observed and I can see the output of ls -l /dev/ as /dev/serial0 -> ttyS0 and /dev/serial1 -> ttyAMA0. No change is reflected. FYI on ubuntu 20 config.txt and cmdline.txt file ar available @ /boot/firmware folder
