This time we will connect a Raspberry PicoW to our WiFi, subscribe on certain MQTT topics by connecting to our mosquitto broker on our PI and display these reading on our Pimoroni pico display pack.
We will also use the buttons of our Pico Display to switch between different views. For that we will use interrupt handlers to get the button press at any time while our Pico is looking for new MQTT messages.
My current aim is to divide this into three chapters.
This is chapter 2: MQTT
Chapter 1: Setting up our PicoW with the Pimoroni display-W-firmware and connecting to our home WiFi: • Raspberry PICO W: Use...
Chapter 2: Connecting to our MQTT message broker, subscribing on certain topics and decoding the JSON messages: • Raspberry PICO W: Use...
Chapter 3: Visualization of our data on a Pimoroni pico display. Using IRQ for buttons to switch between different views: • Raspberry PICO W: Wif...

Thanks for a great video. Following this I get an issue that my picow is rejected by the broker. Any suggestions?

You can define levels of security for MQTT. If you need encryption, authentication etc. But I can't help in detail via the comment section, best is to post your code in a forum.

I'm pretty new to MicroPython, so this may be old news to most of you. When I installed umqtt, it installed to a .frozen folder and was unavailable to import. On SO I found you can correct the install location using upip.install("micropython-umqtt.robust", "/lib"). Thanks for the video! It has pretty much everything I need for my project.

same for me, but it worked after adding "/lib"

I had a Pimoroni lying around, that's why. And I like the display - not that expensive for size and convenience. However, I also have a standard OLED here as well... I never tried it on the Pico. Would be a nice thing to do... hmmm ;) I think'll about it.

@@Sir-RealFunny you should say that. I was going to order some of those OLED displays from Pimoroni. Thanks for all the help.
