I love rats and i am addicted like you cannot believe. I am getting two male rats this week, so I've been looking up rat care.

My rats only eat the inside of peas as well!! my mum and me were so confused when we saw that they had thrown the skins all over the cage. so funny though :))

Love your videos. I just purchased the same cage and own 6 rats all girls. Because fleece can get expensive or if you have trouble finding it what I do is go to op shops and look for blankets that I can cut up for the trays or go to Kmart and by doggie fleece blankets for $5 to use. Op shop is the cheaper option though.....lol. Keep up the great work girl. Give your girls a super rattie kiss from me

I LOVE YOUR CAGE AAA only towels as bedding can be pretty risky, as they can shred it and potentially choke on it, or swallow it and it might get tangled in their intestines! for me i use fleece + towel underneath. just wanted to let you know if you werent aware ;v;

I love watching your videos, I am adopting 3 boys tomorrow, up until now I have had only girls. My first were 2 girls I adopted from Craig's list, and then I rescued 2 pews from a hoarder situation.Sadly they have all passed and I thought I would give boys a try. I want them to cuddle with me, as all my girls would never cuddle unless they were in their cage, that was the only time they would lay still and let me pet them until they fell asleep, I don't know if you still do videos but if you do, keep up the good work, I so enjoy them

I'm sorry to hear that your fur baby passed away. I've got my boys now and I can't even bare to think about what I'll do when that time comes. whoever discovered binder clips make the perfect fasteners for a fleece lined rat cage, is a genius. instead of using fleece from a fabric store, Wal-Mart carries fleece throws for $2.50 USD, they come in a variety of patterns and I can get at least two sets from one blanket. you can't beat it. I thought I was the only one who has meals with my rats lol, I eat, they eat. I have as much fun making those cardboard castles as they do playing in them. they're such amazing creatures and I can't imagine life without them. It's a daily task to properly clean rat cages haha, I like switching it up so that it's new and exciting I'm their cage so they are entertained while I'm at work. that looks like the easiest cage I'm the world to clean. mine doesn't have a large opening and you gotta do it all through smaller doors. Do you perhaps have a link for that cage?

I love rats .. I even have a rat tattoo ..I just got 2 blue dumbo girl rats a month ago. I have a similar cage too.

Awww this makes me want to have rats again! I had two gorgeous girls until a few months ago when they both passed away. It was really painful to loose them but now that I've had time, I really really miss having pets around! Rats have SO much personality! Loved the video :)

I have almost the same cage as You. The same in every way except for one. The doors only open on one side & I very sadly didn't find this out until We put it together & it makes Me cry. I gave Myself frozen shoulder trying to take one of the furthest lava ledges down on My own for cleaning. Getting the Savic Royale XL in 6 weeks though so Yess!! 2 full levels & 4 half levels. Super excited! For the first time ever I'm down to one rat on Her own. I had a group of neutered males & My Young female so getting Her new friends will take at least a few weeks & careful planning & I'm getting them from a small animal rescue. By the way I did originally have 2 females but one of them had to be re-adopted as She was extremely rat aggressive & even the smell of other rats made Her want to kill. I mean literally kill,, not just fight. A rare set of circumstances.

I am SO jealous of your cage and your play pen..... I have rats, but I can only have so many because we don't have room for a bigger cage and there's absolutely no way my parents would let me set up a play pen oooooh-no-no. (I'd have nowhere to put it when it was not in use) I let them run around our lounge room while we're watching TV. I hope someday I can have an entire room of the house set up for my babies :D

i just let my boys free roam my room where there cage is and block of the wires under my desk and the rest of my room is rat proof and cant get behind anything but there cage. got wood floors so not worried as i can sweep any poop up and i wash the floors often enough with natural cleaner that's not stroung at all because i have allergies so hate anything scented or chemicals. if anything it smells like baby wipes. my rats do the same thing, they never eat the skin on peas. im thinking about just taking the skins off and giving the skin to my degus as my goldfish don't eat the skin of peas either but my degus love them lol

haha great video! You have a great natural personality. 😊 I wouldn't recommend those dog play pens for rats though because they will chew straight through that in 2 seconds! They might only work if you are constantly there to supervise them

i subscribed to you because your real, you said "i just use a towel because i cant use fleace" and "THEYLL TEAR THAT SHIT UP" like i have a chinchilla and she chews everything!so i use towels, you seem to be a little on a budget for the rats but i find that so relateable!!

There is a cheaper alternative to buying fleece there's a few Dollar generals and Dollar trees near me and they have baby sections you can get the baby blankets and they work just fine

I have 2 rats and they are both boys and they are called Ron and tobi but they are sooooooooooooo cute!

My rats also only eat the inside of the peas as well when the peas are frozen! For some reason though when its canned peas they gobble the entire thing down!

I wonder if the pea skin is hard for them to eat? It is a bit thick kind of like corn kernel skin. The skin on corn is what tends to kill rabbits and small critters because they cant digest it. So my guess is rats being really smart maybe they just know something we dont about the pea skins?

People warn me about rats destroying things but .... I have a husky who ate 4 couches in 6 months, she just kept eating them and blankets, and anything in her crate she tears to pieces

Be careful when you use towels on your cage floors! I've heard of people who have had there rats choke on the strings in the towels, :( If your rats aren't big chewers I guess it's not a big deal, but I just wanted to warn you >-< Hope your rats are doing great! c:

My rat, Oreo has a pair of old pants stretched out in his cage for him to climb around in, he loves them.

I've heard the bar spacing on this cage might be too big. I kinda want two or three male rats as I heard they get bigger so it won't be as much of a problem. I'll only be able to get them when I move out so I can save up for this cage (critter nation does not ship to Germany for some reason but this one does). I want to either adopt rats from the shelter or get baby rats. At the moment I have 2 cages (one hamster cage and one for mice) The hamster cage is the smallest, then comes the mice cage and eventually the cage shown in the video. If I get baby rats some day, do you think it would be possible to put them in the smallest first (really small bar spacing that's why I thought of this), then transfer them to the mice cage (significantly bigger but not as high as one critter nation part) and when they are just big enough to the new cage? Or is this too stressful? Should I just buy this grid stuff and put it around the big cage temporarily? I really hope everything turns out how I want it to be. If I never get rats I might use it as a bird cage. (My dream birds are green cheeked conures and african greys lol)Also I can't live without cats but I have high hopes since one of my cats who never went outside besides the balcony is actually scared of my hamster, I don't know how she would react to rats.. She might see them as a kitten once they're big lol The other cat was brought to the shelter at two years old and he goes nuts in my room when he hears the birds. He's not aggressive to get in there but even if you just hold him through the door he only has eyes for the bird cage.
