Looking good Bob...had to replay the outdoor night time shot a few times with my eyes closed. Haha, listening to the crickets with that country silence. Brings back childhood memories
Hey Bob, good job on them here machining the chopper hub and bearing and bending the frame with the old Harbor Freight pipe bender. You have lots of shop skills and plenty of smarts to figure all that out! Thanks for sharing. I’m a big fan of Bawb and Red.
She's looking good, Bob! Something I've used rather than a wood block & shim, and I really like it, is an old scissor jack that I pirated out of a junk Honda Civic. You can stick it in your frame, turn it open and let it rest till the springrate of the steel relaxes. It also gets ya a pretty precise push inside the tubes.
Great tips on bending pipe. Really look forward to seeing how take on the front end. I have an 8 yr. old grandson and am thinking about building him something like this.
Looking preeeeeetty !!! Dang you done a nice job with that bender, i had one of those for pipe but sold it and bought a tube bender from JD2 best purchase i made when i built my chrome molly chassis for my drag car.
That’s pretty cool. Here in Iowa if I left the doors open after dark all they find in the morning of me is a few bones left behind from the mosquitos and buffalo gnats
Im glad you got them lights so I can see how they look cause im gonna get me some too. I have had to use the board and shim trick a few times my own self. lol Bending two pipes just a like is a beeatch to do. You done pretty good on yours. I like it.
Hey Bob. Looking good. You must have spent a lot of time in your thinking chair with pad and pencil. This is a true labour of love. when you play with it till night time. Thanks for sharing..
Yea man! That thinking chair has been one of most favorite tools to have in the shop. I have no clue what I'm a doing other than having a blast carving on some metal and making something that looks cool and hopefully serves two purposes ..... to be eye candy ... and haul my ass to the mail box every now and again.
@@RatRodBobBuilds I know for sure it will be eye candy, but I don't know about hauling your ass to the mail box and back. I don't know how far your mail box is from you house. Ha Ha. Looking good my friend. 👍👍
You, sir, must have the patience of Job to get this all worked out. I see that your patience and diligence seem to have paid off! I've bent electrical conduit, used a hydraulic die tube bender and a small hand bender (for brake lines and such) but have never used a pipe bender. Guess I need to test my patience. No hydraulic die tube benders available here in the Middle East but pipe benders are pretty common... I've been balking at the thought of getting one... They don't know the difference between tube and pipe here, anyway... If it's round, it's pipe... If it's square, it's tube... What the hell, here goes! The Nissan Patrol build must go on... Once again, thanks for the inspiration!
If you search youtube for "pipe bender" you'll find a guy that shows you how to make jeep parts ... front guard ... nerf bars .... out of pipe with a bender ... but the key is .. bend a little then move a little and bend a little and so on. If you try to bend too much in one spot it will kink the pipe. Not good!
Absolute 0 Tolerance for "Wampyjawedness" in Your Shop Sir and Your Work Shows It !! A Lot of Time and Patience n Cipherin Too. Looking forward Updates Bob, God Bless All.
On your frame fixture (I beam) you could make sliding clamps out of c channel and threaded rod. It would allow you to hold and adjust the tubing in small increments.
I'm surprised u didn't make the frame way more simpler and just make your rear axle a swing arm with a center shock absorber like a Quad uses. Woulda saved you a lot of bending..but it does look really cool!!! Can't wait to see it finished..
Bob I hope a lot of Younguns are subscribed and grabbing everything they can cause not many people use good ole common sense to fabricate, Yor Awesome results are proff that it works.....excited for your Springer build too,,,:)
Bob you the man looks really good and the way you told us how to do it was, great,so now we should be able to do it aftersome practice. Its looking really good cant wait to see it all 3 done.
Beautiful work! Great tips too. Harbor Freight wouldn't send me a complete 16 ton bender, so I had to go to their store. They sent me two, but both were missing the dies. The big one comes in two boxes, but the online people at HarborF don't know that.
I'm building a really cool mini chopper I have a question on what I should do trying to fit a 1989 7 horsepower Briggs & Stratton in the bike frame it's close but just too tall by about a inch I can take pictures it's a really cool bike and I don't want to cut it up if there's a different way that I should be doing it I know I can cut a chunk out and make it fit but not sure if that's what I should do
i did a lot of conduit bending as an electrician....it is a skill than takes a while to get good at. i sure have wasted a good bit of pipe while learning.
How did he do the headset I can't find anything on weld on headsets for steering controls and the through hole for the tripple tree I want to start building bikes
