Yes, France did write the first declaration of Human Rights, and there is no OFFICIAL discrimination in the sense that the state doesn't even have the right to know or ask your ethnicity/religion. Doesn't mean that the society is a melting pot of friendship, and you'd have to be a child to imagine that's the case.

My issue is the reporter making such a claim in spite of the history of a colonial power like France. In other words, it's easy to claim you invented human rights, but rather ironic when you don't respect humans who don't look like you. And then to call out other nations for their transgressions is a bit odd, if not tone a bit deaf.

As a south American living in France, I have nothing but gratitude for the French republic, in contrast to other European countries, the educational, healthcare and well-being systems are equally accessible to everyone, including foreigners here (e.g annual tuition fees are around 300 euros ) . Like anywhere else, you need to be talented to have a well-paid job, being a foreign does not entitle you per se to find one
I guess those young people from neglected backgrounds who are protesting on the streets (and I hasten to add that all rioters should be prosecuted) against blatant discrimination, demanding justice etc., won’t necessarily watch this video, read your comment and have a chance to challenge it, will they?, I mean it’s just your word against theirs and against tons of sociological research.

It's a social question, France is way more segregated between poors and rich than foreigners imagine, modern racism is mostly build upon that segregation, in France and Europe in general.
They are stealing from the African countries like the Wagner group, and CCP. So they need an immigration policy. Many people in France might not even be aware of the continuing exploitation. If they stop stealing from Africa, than there would be no immigration.
They are about 4th/5th generation French and born in France. They still and will always identify as Algerian/Moroccan or Tunisien. They won't even take a French Christian name, so proud are they of the countries they escaped from and that offered them nothing, not even social security.

Their not racist. I'm a mixed black and been there. Unlike the US, their government never mandated the execution of racism on their lawfully free people. They never had Jim Crow, literacy tests/grandfather clauses at the polls. It's a big big difference compared to the states. All racism in France is in the streets and never was imposed by government.
If the policing of diverse communities in western countries is motivated by racism why is it that ethnic Chinese and Hindu Indian communities have such low levels of arrest and subsequent criminal charges?? Racism take place in different forms. Ethnic Chinese I can tell you faced a lot of hate crimes as a result of COVID-based xenophobia. Indians, including Hindus, often are confused with Muslims, and so are automatically accused of being terrorists. For black people, I cannot speak about France, but in the US, is that group more likely to commit crime than other groups? Yes, but the majority of black people are not like that, and I'm sure that's the case in France as well. Unfortunately, innocent black people are often stopped by the police for doing no wrong, and even, beaten by the police. You're telling me the problem is with their race and ethnic group? France has had the great fortune of being in a great location. Britain to the North, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy to the East, and Spain to the South. It's very unfortunate that the French are a transit hub for all their neighbors and immigration, yet don't see this as a blessing but rather a curse. They have no choice but to be accepting of immigration. They also need to understand that they play the largest role integrating immigrants and fostering a conducive narrative within Europe about the migrant crisis, and current events. The French are central to Europe and must be the leaders that rise up for change..... such is the Burden of geography.
Generally, France should be for the French people, since they have no other place to live ("white flight" is not an option). Historically every country in Europe was/is based on; ethnicity, nationality, language and religion. Anything else has been a reason for years of wars.
