RAT ROD Tow Truck Rescues JEEP!!
It was time to test out the Tacoma upgrades, so Fab Rats went out on a leisurely trip, along with Matt's Off Road Recovery and friends.......at least that was the plan! Our plan took a turn when one of group's jeeps broke and our leisurely trip turned into a recovery! Did we get back before dark? Check it out!

Think that's the best Fabrats, Matts off-road recovery combination videos I've seen. That off-road wrecker obviously kind of put together with spare parts is one heck of a beast!

I can't imagine any other tow truck being so happy off-road. That had to be the same soft sand that Matt needed to help the white Jeep get through, but Paul's tow truck air'd down a bit, and not only got up those soft slopes, it did it while towing another Jeep. It seems to me that if they ever film a Mad Max sequel in America, they'd do well to hire Paul to build the vehicles.

Check out the BSF recovery channel. They have an off road tow truck very similar to this and volunteer at off road parks.

You guys remind me so much of my friends and our group (OK 20ish years ago) that it really makes me smile when you are on your adventures like this. That old tow truck is worth its weight in gold for stuff like this, and I bet she has some stories to tell if she could talk.

That old sling truck is sweet! As for the Hi-lift jack, I have a strap that stays with my Hi-lift jack that I use it to strap the jack to the bumper so if it tries to kick out the strap stops it. It's just a pull strap that tightens when you pull it, and then you lift up on the clasp and it releases it. It tightens and loosens like the shoulder straps on the 4 or 5 point racing harnesses. It just makes me feel better about using it.

7:27 Always, always, always put the wheel n tyre under the vehicle at the earliest opportunity. I have lost count how many time doing this has saved me from serious injury.

i have heard awesome things about those rv2 compressors. my dad had a few cars with them that he had plumbed to a air tank in the trunk. then when he needed air he would just turn on the a/c

As others have said, what a special group of people Having fun, giving each other crap, nobody is upset or getting offended. I love it. Was that axle kinda undersized for what you were doing? When the jeep was climbing the rocks earlier it just looked much less substantial than the Tacoma or the Banana.

Its a much lighter car than the Tacoma and Banana, so it doesn't need the same size axle.. Its a bit of a tradeoff, a lighter car doesn't need the strongest parts, if you want more durability you can build with stronger parts but then its not as light anymore..

Tow Truck is a beast. It was cool to watch the tires flexing and taking up all the little chatter bumps on the way out. Cool you can tow with the pressure that low.

Between rat rod tow truck and the work on the Corvair you're doing for Matt, it makes me want to drop off my 85' F250 (4WD w/ the 460 motor) with you for a few months. It needs to be either a plow truck or a crawler. Or both. I'm in Idaho, but it'd be worth it. Fab Rats would show it the love it needs.

Muncie. I had a M-21 behind a breathed-upon 350 in my '67 Camaro SS. Speaking of bullet-proof. Streeting up against 383s, just left in 2nd to save a shift and power shifted into 3rd at a little over 60mph. Dodge boys didn't like me much ;-D That tow truck! Who ya gonna call when you're 911 and *_you're_* in trouble? Cheers from Eastern Ontario.

You guys need to find some railroad rail and make a front bumper for that tow rig. At around 130 lbs a yard should put enough weight for those tires back on the ground while towing. Plus it makes one hell of a “bomb proof” bumper. I enjoy the clips! Keep them coming!

Watching your tow truck takes me back.. I want to rebuild my old tow truck.. F250 with a man of war wrecker boom.. I found my old boom in the scrap yard and bought it back ..
