Shouldn't the Saw in Half tokens Wheeler made in game one have been 3/3s? When the Ravenloft Adventurer died, it has 2 +1/+1 counters on it, making it a 5/6. It wouldn't have changed the eventual outcome of the game, but it would would have changed the combat math, because at 21:27, Wheeler would have been attacking for lethal.

"Monoblack Eat Your Cheese" seems like a good name for a Rat version of Ruin-your-evening

It occurs to me that Karakas combos pretty well with Call of the Ring. Every turn you can make any creature you control legendary, then bounce it with Karakas and replay it to recur its ETB effect- could make for an interesting way to lockdown an opponent with Spellstutter Sprite.

Nelson is a delight every time he's on the show

Unsure if it mattered (since I don't know what was in his hand), but the fancy Nature's Lore that Nelson plays in the last game notably doesn't put the forest into play tapped, so he might've been able to play a 2 mana spell and then follow up with Uro on the next turn.

OKAY BUT consider the deck name *Scram*

Thinking of a good nickname for 'Rat Scam', I discovered an important fact: Don't ever spoonerize it.

Personally I would just name Wheeler's deck "At Least 7 Rats"

The amount of hand hate from Wheeler in this episode was brutal. Mono black can be seriously nasty.

"Scrats" is strong, but I swear there's something to the idea of a Shadowmoor version of RYE. Instead of noob-traps it's all seasoned cards and info effects, so something like "(thought)Seizing the Day" might work, but then you run into its acronym being "STD."

I don't get the Rats. Wheeler's deck looks like a mono-black version of his vampire-deck to me.

I love seeing some really different decks pup up here. We're usually just seeing a bunch of the same cards in these matches, but now there's actually a lot of different things going on.

I have a WB deck with a similar archetype of having any given individual creature being more of a hastle to deal with than it's worth. I can my deck "negative calories" to keep woth the old tradition of naming decks after food-related affairs. I hope this engagement has engagemented

I feel like the reason Nelson lost game 1 felt was because Wheeler went off with the Initiative, I don't think the discarding mattered that much. Nelson probably wouldn't have had that much time to even deploy a lot of those cards given the speed of the initiative and the damage Wheeler was threatening because of it, if he'd just played higher power creatures instead of the rats it might have ended up roughly the same. Game 2 he won because of the Orcish Bowmasters and I feel the rats were a lot less impactful than just completely dumpstering the Jace and preventing Nelson from leveraging any of his card draw without dying horribly. I think game 3 the discarding affected Nelson's plays a bit, but honestly I don't think it mattered as much because he just got very far ahead on cards in the end thanks to Uro so the discard was either not that impactful or negative because it helped Uro get out further. Still not sure if you would rather be playing other cards than a bunch of Ravenous Rats.

I've been trying to brew mono-black ruin your evening ever since the mono-white ruin your evening episode. Haven't come to a exact 100 that i'm happy with, but it's been fun watching new cards come out and change how i want to build it.
