Thanks kernelspy so much! :) My English isn't good and it's maybe reason why I play more than speak :) Anyway, yes I'm going to do more gear demos. Take care man.
From the begining of comparison... My ears choose stock RAT.. It is just "right" frequencies.. Not too bright and not too slight mid.. Anyway all of them still sounds RAT don't worry it is not other things =)
I have been considering getting a modified Rat, but every single video I've seen comparing rhe stock Rat to mods, the stock sounds the best. I guess some things can't or don't need to be improved on.
stock rat all the way, nothing here that cannot be achieved with a little eq on the amp. what a waste of money these mods are, still people are so gullible arent they. great demo by the way.
@@MatoMisik i put some good head phones on and it helps a lot i should have done that in the first place. im looking for that 80s big hair pedal to throw threw a vox or a fender any good suggestions i thought the rat might be a starting point
@@Awethesoul Hey :) These days are golden age of guitar pedals, amps etc. So, there si pletny options. I think Vox is better option then Fender amp as pedal platform amp. Fender aps are to "v" shape frequencies and it is harder to find righ -hi-gan pedal. It depends if you running your amp clean or crunchy... Ok, here is a few my tips for good hi-gain pedals: KHDK no1, Rattler from Jam pedals (their RAT version, good), some Friedman pedals, Catalinbread makes good ones, RevivalDrive from Origin effects, pedals from Revv are great,... etc. Good luck
LM308 is great chip. I have couple RAT clones with this chip... I like them more than my original RAT. But it was my first pedal ever, so he's neave leave me :) Thanks for your comment Mr.Morbido :)
stock is more low middy and the amount of dist is already way too high on low levels, what I don't like...so I will go the Keeley mod...the dist level is more even/linear from low to high...
Great shoot out ! thanks . Truth be told ? ... salvation should give you a refund and keely also needs to think sometimes things should be left alone !! the original has a really nice woody midrange that is not there with either modded versions ! anyways subscribed Martin , good show !
i think salvation is fuzz pedal like ,keely is very much metalic. rat is the most modern distortion ,and ive read. i have a rat2 this is unspeakably much to my sound. thanx yu
Great demo! I was tempted to mod my USA made Rat 2, but after watch this video I realized how powerful, creamy and consistent is by its own! Thanks pal!
LOL ... great to know that my video helped you :) Thanks man and enjoy you little rattle beast! + if you really like this pedal, here is great replica of the legendary "white face" version of this pedal: www.leehooker.com/en/effects/white-face-trip/
Thank you :) I personally prefer more natural and rough sounding Salvation Mods modification. It is much closer to original pedal. But Keeley sounds realy good, but it is a "little bit" a different pedal.
Thank you David for your comment. I appreciate that! :) All sounds great. Each of them has something different and very useful. I personally prefer (and own) the Salvation Mods version. I found its character much closer to the original/stock pedal. The Keeley sounds great also, but it has a little bit different character than the original.
Thank you Michael. In this moment I make Rig Rundown report videos with local guitarists (in Czech language), but thinking to create antoher channel only for english content.
Gabriel Sebastián Mecklenburg Meléndez Thank you Gabriel for your comment. Stock has its own color and I like it a lot. Each of them is really good but different.
Well done Mato! I think that you need to be a big fan of the original pedal to pursue a modded one. While I can hear a difference between the pedals I am not sure if I would bother with modding one unless that specific pedal defines my tone. To me it saved me some money in that if I have a Rat 2 then I should persue another pedal then just buying a second moded one. Thank you.
Glad to hear it Gringo :) You know, all of them are just a flavors to our tone. Sometimes works, sometimes not... I like all of them but I'm own just the Salvation's moded one :) Actually my friends of LeeHooker did great clone of probably best sounding Rat called "white face" (early one with inverse white logo). Nice warm and open sounding pedal. You should check it: www.leehooker.com/en/effects/white-face-trip-mosfet/ Cheerse :)
Mato Misik Thanks for the reply! After watching this video I watched another and when I do go for overdrive type of pedals in the future I am probably going for a modded Proco Rat, a modded Daddy O Danelectro ( I already have a regular one on my board) and a Big Muff. The effects I use are mainly a reverb, an echo/delay and an overdrive. I do have two others that are not these but its pretty much a one and done (chorus and a tremelo). I may get some boutique delays but thats down the road, I have guitars to fix and mod and an amp that needs some help for the long haul. That is a cool pedal you recommend. Thanks!
You're welcome :) If you're going to the moded Rat, I can highly recommend you Salvation Audio. Antonin Salva is the master! :) He's working for big guys like Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, Guns'N Roses, Accept and many more. Here is the link to his Rat mod: salvationaudio.com/index.php?page=proco-rat-mod
Thanks Daniel :) I plan to create an new video with my RAT (not that one in this video) with NEW "hungy/angry mod" moded by Salvation Mods. Really unique mod ... stay tuned (subscribe my channel) :)
Sorry if I missed it stated somewhere, but does the Keeley offer more output/db on tap? The volume is at 1 o clock but is matched to the output of the others.
Nekoušel jsi i simulaci RATa v Digitech DF-7 ?
Nice comparison. Thanks! I have been using Rats since the early 80s and , of course, I like the stock. However, I can see how the Keeley might be useful. It seemed to have a tighter bottom and nice sweet mid boost (around 900hz?). It all depends on the guitar and amp, ones touch and pedal order.
Hellix ma túto krabičku dvakrát dve modeli aktualizaciou na 3,10 pridali opravený Rat a dovolím si povedať že nepočujem rozdiel medzi analogom a tými ktoré testujete pride mi úplne rovnaký zvuk ja to využívam pri sólach distriction mam na nule filter 6,8 a level naplno =D
@@MatoMisik ono keď sa dá pred aparat ale jemne do skreslenia potom sólo má pekny spevoví ton. Všeobecne je najlepšie všetko z mierov aby aj aparátnestratil svoju farbu ...Ja mám jvm 410 hlavu a box 1960 lead ale nosiť to je extrém preto mám aj helix .Ja som zastancom kombinacii najlepsie mi to zneje spolu ale podmienky to človeku často nedovoluju..Keby nebol cortex taky drahý šiel by som do toho lebo ten vie snímať aj zvuk krabčiek aj hlav a je oveľa menši človeku potom stačí jeden kufor.
