+Souji Monaru I'd put Up in that list, except they weren't directed by Brad Bird. But, yes, these are my favorite Pixar films. And, I believe, in many ways, the best, at least for my taste. The Incredibles sequence where the family tries to deal with normal life problems is the trully incredible part of the movie for me (that and the short with the nanny and Jack-Jack, of course). As I love cooking myself, that's reason enough to adore Ratatouille. But I thought the characters well well developed and the story was engaging. I didn't feel it rushed at all. And Up, well, not only the story was great and the scenario in Roraima mount was wonderful, but I just couldn't help but cry at the wonderfully beautiful married life depicted in the initial montage.

Oh, I love "Ratatouille." One of my favorite Pixar films of all time and it was absolutely delicious to see a cute rat cook his own recipe for his accomplishment with the chef's restaurant. Director Brad Bird did a fantastic job creating an animated film with nicely done backgrounds with colorful clouds of Paris (beautiful), nicely done characters including the critic played by memorable Peter O' Toole, and everything with delicious meals and deserts were yummy to eat and the entire movie of making cook meals were fantastic. I love this movie and overall, delicious. We hope saving grace to all people in France that someday in Paris will be saved for one good taste.

Is it me, or does it seem like Doug is describing the positives of this movie like how Remi describes food he tastes?
@farmerboy916
@farmerboy916 6 лет назад
BlankPapers One of the things about his reviews that makes them stand out from the crowd and an absolute joy, and this is something noticeable on many occasions especially if you know the material he's reviewing or even some of the things it drew inspiration or direction from, are that he incorporates the style of the thing he's reviewing into his review. Whether that's the style of thing you've pointed out, the actual format or story of the review, stylistic or referential callbacks, they are a delight and do what critics most often miss: accentuating what the product actually is, rather than necessarily tearing apart its little flaws. If the movie didn't try and is just a cash grab he often won't bother and will treat the review itself as such, and when it's a unique or interesting experience that tried hard even with flaws, he'll talk about the movie in the same way that made it great in the first place.
@farmerboy916
@farmerboy916 6 лет назад
Or at the very least, it is something I often notice. At other times, I have to wonder if it's there at all or if it isn't a constant.

I love how clever this movie is. The ending is one of the best endings in cinema history, that's for sure. There are flaws, of course, I too wish there was some more interactions with the cooks than with the rats, or even if to keep the interactions with the rats, then make the movie a little longer, a matter of few extra minutes, just to see the other cooks growing fond of the main character. [SPOILERS] This would've made the scene when Linguini reveals his secret to them all the more powerful. They all felt really heartbroken that he lied to them, like they've become intimate of him. I'd never have guess they had even become such "close" friends if not for that scene... I suppose all the interactions were on the background, but... Yeah, I'd have loved to see more of them. As for the bond between Linguini and Remy being stronger... I honestly feel like that would get in the way of the story. The reason Remy helps Linguini is mostly because it benefits him (he gets to do what he loves) and because he felt guilty over having his life spared and leaving Linguini in that situation that he helped cause. Remy helping him get the restaurant for himself felt more like he was doing it out of his moral choice than for friendship. I feel like Remy only ever noticed the friendship aspect of his partnership with Linguini when later, after he has his family steal food form the restaurant and gets that speech from Linguini. He realized Linguini trusted him like a friend and that he genuinely felt bad for not being able to show to the world the talent was coming from Remy (due to the fact it would cause the restaurant to shut down). Thus Remy felt just as terrible for having broken his trust and felt he should make it up to him, not because of a moral choice now, but because he cared for his friend and wouldn't let him down. Linguini then, seeing after how he treated Remy he still came back for him, realized it was more than fair to just say what was going on regardless of what people would think of it and maybe even try to rally them to their side. Of course, that didn't work too well, but they still managed to do some impressive teamwork to get to the result of their dreams. [SPOILERS END] So, yeah, considering how the story plays out, I think having the bond between Linguini and Remy stronger could have harmed what the plot was going for.

Sir Arthur Nah, that ending was something much more satisfactory than a ton of endings I saw of more serious, adult oriented and mature movies. It was rather simple, but really delivered everything and more. Who says simplicity can't be a good thing? It is indeed among cinema's finest and it is a big accomplishment for a family and kid friendly animated feature to pull that off.

As someone who owns rats as pets, I have to say, this movie captures their movements perfectly. Although, I got a horrifying thought on the third viewing: what's gonna happen when Remy dies? Rats have very short life spans, after all. Maybe Colette will take over. Or maybe in this universe, rats live much longer (because in this universe, they can understand language).

It should be noted that Brad Bird wasn't the original director for this movie; the movie originally came from Jan Pinkava, the write and director of the short Geri's Game (the one with the old man playing chess against himself). I love Brad Bird's Pixar films because he has a way of tying together so many different elements seamlessly into the movie. There's a lot going on in The Incredibles and Ratatouille but I just love the way he puts it all together. I feel like I relate to him in a way.

When I ever I think of this movie I think of my mom who introduced me and this movie to the world of cooking and teaches the best lesson known to man “anyone can cook”

This is my favourite pixar film ever , I can not put into words how much I ador it. the animation is amazing ( it looks beautiful) , the characters are really unique and interesting , the story is entertaining, le fastin is one of my favourite songs of all time and both the morals (the one from Gusto at the beginning and the one at the end by Ego) are very very good and actually unique. It's amazing .

I think the whole point of the gargoyles in Hunchback of Notre Dame was an artistic choice to make the viewer ask "Are they really alive or have years of isolation driven him insane?". A question that has no real answer

This my absolute favourite Pixar movie. Everyone gives me shit for it, but it has cooking and animals and great ideas shown through amazing dialogue, not to mention great physical comedy too. I know other people like Incredibles or Monster's Inc, but this the most genuinely intelligent and funny Pixar movie I've ever seen.

2:45 I watched this movie when I was a kid and I found the "evil chef" intimidating but also kind of funny and I wouldn't say he's typical evil character. 2:50 Because we've seen so many rat families in movies that are all the same.
