“After speed running the games for 10 years how are you not tired of it?” Ratchet and Clank fans since the first game are an absolute different breed. Between the unfathomable amount of love for the games, to the competitive, Yet friendly nature of The R&C challenge and speed running community, To the shared nostalgia of our childhood. Ratchet and Clank people, are the best people in the gaming world. I’m relatively new to the speed running and challenges side of these games. Yet one of my youngest memories is playing the R&C demo on the Jampacked disc before the game even released. And I’m surprised how strong the original trilogy fanbase is still going 20+ years later. I’ve beat 1-3 uncountable amounts of times casually and still go back and play them every several months. Forever and always will be my favorite games.

Using a glitch cause you can't be bothered to get the swingshot is such a Xem thing to do at this point. There isn't a single one of these mod challenges where Xem doesn't use unnecessary glitches for no reason and I love it 😂

ive been playing these games since 2003 when my dad downladed these for my ps 2, i was 4 back then and i still love these games. they hold a dear spot in my heart thats why i love your vids. I was extremely happy when i got to play them again on pcsx 2 back in 2019 and itss my casual leisure time enjoyment laying back and having un with these games ,not thinking much just chilling, this is the best thing about these games, you can be extremely focused and still ahve a ton of fun and no stress unlike many modern games " caughs in lague of legends " or you can just chill and enjoy some fun games without thinking too much, anyway this got way longer than i thought, have a nice day pals

my first time with RaC was when i was a baby, and my older brothers were on fire playing on the ps2. During the time we first got the Ps2, my mom gave them a choice between Crash Bandicoot or Ratchet and Clank (i think for the rated T they were very limited). They did pick RaC in the end and honestly best choice made cuz it became my childhood throughout my life and even the same with my brothers.

the multiplayer community set up something similar for deadlocked multiplayer (copying the gun game idea from call of duty), glad to see it in a single player mode. This mod looks fun as hell, good vid man, can't wait to see what you cook this year

oh, what you said about "double-swap the weapon" reminded me of something that happened when i was playing Morrowind. i looted a Summoned creature, and clicked the option to "remove corpse", and that ALMOST crashed the game, because summoned creatures automatically FADE AWAY, so the game tried to make a creature fade away, that was already gone! i got a bunch of error messages, but the game kept running.

"How are you not tired of this game?" Because i grew up with this game and after i randomly found Speedrun Community and especially Xem92 (you my guy) i find then some tricks wich i learn and master. This is my reason :)

I started off with R&C2 when I was 4 years old, and still love these games to bits. Replayed 1/2/3/Gladiator (Deadlocked) in 2022, back to back, and it was such a blast. I've been following your speedruns for ages, and it's so nice to see you still have tons of fun doing this. Cheers!

RAC3 is one of my all time favourite games and I remember doing self-made weapon challenges like clearing a planet with only using agents for example as a kid because I cleared the game so many times and wanted it to not get too repetitive. I would've paid for a mod like this back then.

The first time I saw Ratchet 3, was at a target back in 2004, played it at the kiosk (It was the Marcadea mission) and knew I needed to complete my collection back then.

Wouldn't've made for the greatest content, but with 100 ammo and staring a rapid fire machine gun in the face with the barrier weapon you could've farmed levels easily, as it gains xp from blocking shots.

I grew up from 4 years old Playing Ratchet and clank, I’ve probably beaten every game including spin-offs 10 times other than Secret agent Clank and Going Mobile, I’ve beaten deadlocked, Tod and RaC 3 at least 50 times and I still love these games, so when people ask me why I can still play I can only say “Some games can be both casual and difficult, just depends on how you play”

It's going to be tricky to deal with that weapon switching. You can't even use the same weapon after you destroy any thing. The way the lombax fights without fear makes me think he's not even human.

It's a shame the clank zapper isn't in this game really, I bet it'd make this run much more fun

This reminds me of when I was a kid and I struggled in a lot of levels because I was going through them with V1 weapons. The good part about playing the games again as an adult is realising that upgrading a single weapon to V5 and only then upgrading a different weapon is a terrible idea, specially if you leave the weak weapons for the hardest planets. My current way to handle that is to upgrade 2 or 3 weapons at a time, including a medium weapon like the Plasma Whip or the Suck Cannon, and leave the very weak weapons like the HoloShield Glove and the Infector for Mylon, since you can farm them all to V5 in less than 10 minutes there

Maybe the solution for the difficulty curve is having the weapons be already lvl 5? The good ones will still be OP early on while the rest of them stay somewhat competent later on. But im not even sure if its even possible.

Hello Xem! Can you please answer this? Do you think you could do a video about weird facts about Ratchet and Clank 2 or 3, focusing on obscure mechanics? The kind of "useless" (but interesting) info only a experienced speedrunner would know? It doesn't have to be related to speedruns but it can be. I know you have a sea of trivial info about these games swimming in the back of your mind so I'm sure you wouldn't mind dumping some of this in a video! To give you an idea, there's a video called "10 weird facts about Spyro A Hero's Tail" (or something to that effect). A video like that, but for Ratchet 2 or 3 (whichever is your favorite). If you already have such a video, what's the name? I'd love to see it! It can be 5 minutes or 5 hours, I'll still watch it regardless.

I had a similar experience with acquiring R&C3. Except I was five or six, It was an electronics store and It was my first Ratchet game as I only had played R&C1 demo, which I really liked.

...you ever seen one of those borderlands "wonder gun runs?" The kind that because there so many damn guns in the game to master all of them it's best to literally shuffle every kill? ...imagine that on _crack_ and that's ratchet 3 and deadlocked. Seriously, WHY IS THERE SO MANY WEAPONS IN THESE GAMES IT'S LITERALLY REPLAYABLE EVERY PLAYTHROUGH IF YOU TRY DIFFERENT WEAPONS AND ARMORS

Great how in a run all about swapping weapons, your plan is to just skip over half of the game, and to cycle guns to get the speedrun-required ones. Kinda just avoided the whole mod at that point.

I'd ask how could you be tired of such a good series of games. Specifically the speedruns add a level of competetiveness to them, and have been updated and improved upon repeatedly, which brings more to the table. Mods have allowed some fun stuff for those who can enjoy them, not me though, I probably won't any time soon be capable of using mods. But I haven't ever abandoned the old ratchet games, and discovering speedrunning stuff like 4 years ago gives me all kinds of stuff to try out. So far I've only put much practice into the first game, just the basic movement enhancers and ILJs(i even did some grounded ones up slopes and when i realized it works like that i tried it up a bunch of slopes, like on quartu where you jump out by the ship, i was lining it up and trying to get up there and when I got up I found an invisible one way wall i guess lol.) People can say the same thing about those of us still playing OG cod multiplayers. Why? Idk its just fun for me. Its also why im not gonna be able to use mods any time soon, people already call me a hacker, so I don't even want the capability, it might make my friends distrust me if they knew i used mods on single player games. But i do have some questions with mods, CFW, jailbreaks, and specifically, some very not normal looking trophies i saw someone had.

My first Ratchet and Clank game started when i was 5-6 years old and i didnt Play the game i watched how my older brother played cuz i didnt know how to play.

Next challenge is can you beat R&C3 just using holoshield.

I'd really like this but put the weapons on a timer instead of on a kill. It would make replaying RAC 3 for the billionth time a lot more tolerable, though I'd also like if someone made a mod to skip the hypershot/hacker tutorial and the cutscenes. And maybe the galactic rangers sections. Honestly, I hope the community for RAC makes a good overhaul mod for the game that fixes its most glaring flaws and buffs up some of the worse weapons in that way. Don't know if the tech is there for it, but would be great. Maybe could use cheat codes?
