@VinceSM Ikr. I remember being absolutely astounded by the original Spider-Man game with engine cutscenes that looked like cinematic trailers. Rift Apart is on a whole other level with thousands, if not, hundreds of thousands of bits of hair moving about with physics, along with all of these being near perfectly ray traced too
Too bad they didn't put this much care into the original plan for the reboot of the series. The original Ratchet and Clank on ps2 was e10 to the core without the bullshit contrived and generic plot lines. It didn't treat you like a kid too stupid to understand character development and tie it into a movie with a story you've seen 100 times before already. Ratchet and Clank never got along to begin with. Ratchet was just a mechanic on some nowhere world with no big dreams and encounters people trying to make their own livings as this silly robot keeps convincing him to tag along. That's it. No big dream of being a Disney hero none of that shit. The relationship between Ratchet and Clank doesn't even go anywhere until after they've been through the mud, and the reboot fucked all that right out the window. I don't mean to be negative but as awesome as this game is for the intended audience I can't help but feel bad for what could've been based on what was before
2:19 i actually like that Rivet says "sorry 1 sec" to Clank instead of just cutting him off. And she continues with "anyways". Makes the interaction more realistic
I seriously love the conversation interrupting mechanic in the Ratchet and Clank games, where if you interact with something that stops an ongoing conversation, the characters will stop talking for a sec, and continue where they left off once you’re done, so that you don’t miss plot conversations because you accidentally opened a shop

My exact thought too; I'm new to the R&C franchise and I just went all "Oh God that's so cute and advanced!" when I saw Rivet leave an Excuse Me to the NPC she just ignored.
What I kept thinking whenever watching Kit's scenes is "Wait, but isn't Clank _also_ a warbot, like Kit? Why isn't him or Ratchet bringing that up?" It made me sad, 'cause she was sad, and she deserved empathy goddamit!
@@EsmeraldaTGGWell yes both Clank and Kit are warbots however, Clank was defective from the start of his creation as a warbot. Kit on the other hand was successfully created as a warbot but after one incident she realized that she can't go on being a warbot if it meant killing or injuring innocent lives.
@@JacobHollis96 Okay, but that still doesn't change the fact that Clank _is_ a warbot, and that they NEVER ONCE mention that in the story. Plus, no offense, but if all it took for Kit to turn was realizing that "Shit, hurting people kinda sucks" then I don't really think she was all that "successful" of a warbot tbh!
You have to remember, this game is a sequel to the 2016 remake of the first R&C game, with it serving as a reboot to the series. If memory serves, in this continuity, Ratchet is yet to encounter another Lombax in his own universe.

I will give them this. They are extremely good at giving their characters in the game "character". They're all so lively and expressive. and they were very thorough as well. Like when Clank is talking to Rivet and she goes to an NPC, she'll actually interrupt him say to ask for a minute and stop his dialog, then he'll pick up where he left off after you finish with the NPC.
That's something all first party Sony games have been doing since Uncharted 4 and I'm glad it's still being done because I really hate missing out on interesting dialogue during free roam segments when it gets cut off by some other event only to never be heard again.

The way this game pauses dialogue between characters when you interact with the shopkeepers is PERFECT. My biggest peeve is when you are multitasking and end up cutting off character dialogue
Rivet is just a lazy design. She is just a variation of Ratchet’s body with a different head easier to animate, same running & walking animation. Main reason why they have different tails is because you can’t tell them apart while wearing armor. It’s was a woke reason they do that. I’m so mad I wanted to play as a female not as a male with makeup.

The last time you could play as others character outside Ratchet & Clank was in “All 4 One” & there was never an option to play as a female. I love Ratchet but it was supposed to be different & Nope, you end up with Skins instead of new characters.
If you really ask me, I think that at least ONE of them that is interested on the other, but it is NOT Ratchet as they title might of make it seem. A thing I'll give to Ratchet through most of his scenes with Rivet is that he treats her with the total respect she deserves. He makes his best to forget his awe over meeting another one of his species (not to mention a female) to get the priorities first: Info, cooperation, plan making. He treats her as an equal and avoids making his interactions with her the least awkward they can be despite his curiosity, especially during their first talk and also introduction. This lines up well with who Ratchet is now as of a character. first and foremost Ratchet, even though this game doesn't call back to it, has met other Lombaxes in the past, had prior interaction with said people of his kind and filled his curiosity over them one way or another. He knows what's like to be in Rivet's position, and he's much wiser than what he was when he was in her position, so best thing he knows he must do is play it chill around Rivet so she too also feels confortable being around him; Just see how he quickly put the priorities first over wanting to awe over Rivet's presence after they both first talk: He takes a break and delivers the info first in a tone-down meaner. Is not until he thinks both have finished talking he reflects on the fact he's talking to another one like him. And when Rivet shows up it is true that he surely gets quickly intrigued of her at their first sight, but a thing to remark is that he quickly draws his attention to Clank's well-being and later on presenting Kit to Rivet. It is telling that as a public hero, Ratchet has mature enough to know how to treat people, Rivet being no exception. Afterall he has the experience, and unlike Rivet he has learned to get used to work with other people over time as Ratchet that at every moment he gives the space and also help Rivet requieres with a respectful meaner. But you know which of the two has a far more telling interest on the other? *Rivet*. From the mere get go Rivet lets her curiosity over Ratchet be telling, not by words but actions: Her happy-tone introduction when she first contacts Ratchet, the way she plans her first introduction to him prior to meeting with him, how she starts to ask Clank more about her species' origins, how she can barely hold herself after meeting Ratchet which makes her use Clank as a conversation starter for both of em'. She's lowkey pretty happy to meet someone like her, Especially after YEARS of living on loneliness unlike Ratchet who had to eventually learned the lesson of team work. And even though what I just said cannot be taken as romantic interest, her curiosity over someone of her species is still there and it shows, and that's because he's the only one she knows thus far. And I think two small bits that highlight this are the scene in which Rivet and Ratchet first met and Rivet and Kit's first solo space-travel: A thing that melts my heart everytime I see of the Ratchet and Rivet Meet-Up scene is how happy Rivet seems over seeing Ratchet being concerned over Clank, because it tells so much of Ratchet and his relationship with Clank that she immediately feels comfortable being around him and tries not to act two awkward herself when she tells him "I found him like this". Secondly, when Kit points out that both Ratchet and Clank seem happy to have one another she makes a sort of dreamy-like expression, an expression that expresses relief in knowing that the guy he met seems to be a much better guy than she herself thought, possibly deepening her interest on him. All that in mind IF there was any implication of a possible love interest between who and who, it would probably be Rivet, that is if she even has one because it hasn't been proven thus far. Unlike Clank and Kit, she barely knows anything about him, that and the fact he's the only other one around of her species (that she knows of) that would be enough to draw her near Ratchet in some capacity to know more about him and possibly their species. Something I think the ending is alluding to. -- And yes, I hear you say that one she's Ratchet counterpart and two Ratchet has a girlfriend, but here is where I draw a bit of logic to the table: PROBLEMATIC #1 - COUNTERPARTS: The fact that they both seem to believe they're both counterparts of one another, I.E. the same person, is not out of a valid proof but moreso a belief out of logic seeing how some of their friends and also enemies seem to have one in their respective dimension but is this mere fact which contradicts said theory. In the game all characters have corresponding counterparts that match the gender of their variant, all but Ratchet and Clank. And meanwhile it might seem that Kit debunks my thought, the fact that this game throws the canon that Lombaxes were able to travel and migrate to different dimensions puts Rivet's position as Ratchet's counterpart to doubt because you'd start to ask "Where are her parents? Are they the same as Ratchet but gender-swaped?" "What's the origin of the Lombaxes of her dimensions? Where did they go?" Is the mere existence of their race that puts this theory in question. in fact, Just the mere fact that Lombaxes were able to travel and inhabit many other dimensions would be enough to debunk it if we look at Lombaxes' history because, much like Ratchet, Rivet could've been another left behind new-born of the same group of Lombaxes to which Ratchet belongs to; Just that she was left on a different dimension to his. Given the canon there is room for that narrative for Rivet. If anything it'd mean both have the Spider-Man complex in which both are different being that took the same role, making both of them variants of one another but not by being the other's variant, more so because they share a common in-universe role in two different dimensions. (Example: Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy). PROBLEMATIC #2 - ESTABLISHED RELATIONSHIPS: This one is not so hard to explain as it might seem, but it can possibly cause a lot of controvercy in the replies so before hand - Do be comprehensive with one another. Even if your ship is not canon you're still able to like and ship what you want if that brings joy to you. That out of the way I'll say that yes, I'm aware Ratchet already has a girlfriend which is Talwyn; In fact in the game Ratchet does mention her to Kit during prior to meeting up with Rivet and Clank, meaning that this game hasn't retconned that nor has Ratchet forgotten about her, so its safe to say that with that fact on the board most likely this ship isn't sailing anywhere. Though it does leave a gray area worth pointing out: Remember what I just said about Rivet having no idea of who Ratchet is and how's his life, and how that would make her want to be around him more? This sorta leaves an open scenario for this ship believe it or not. We know by now that Ratchet, Clank, Rivet and Kit are gonna be traveling somewhere together, either to look after Lombaxes or have another wacky-adventure of their own is still unknown; But we know Insomniac's are gonna be exploring Ratchet and Rivet's relationship for at least one more game and this does have an open door for where things might go for both of them. Again, Rivet is in because she might want to know more about her species or at least more about Ratchet personally, and by the end of this game she has no clue who his friendships are, nor how he is on his daily basis, and most important of all *the fact that he might have a girlfriend*; something Kit does but she doesn't. Is this lack of information towards him what, again, causes curiosity on Rivet of a fellow of her species and we'll see how they both take advantage of it. Past this theory there is not much for me to add other than it's all in hands of Insomniac Games where they take both Ratchet and Rivet so we'll have to wait and see.

I loved the sibling relationship these two had. I thought it’d go more romantic and whenever Ratchet had a romantic interest in the past they were either bland or didn’t like him back. Rivet is far from bland! If they go Romantic in the future… well first of all that’d be hilarious and it’d be fun to see their dynamic! Insomniac would get it just right
@@mikeylarsen5627 I agree with you, Insomniac Games uses to introduce a new female character in every game only to dump her and replace her with yet another new female character in the next game so I don't get attached to any of them since they dumped the first one, Angela Cross, without any justification and kept doing just that with every female character.
As a R&C veteran, she IS adorable. I hope that she stays a part of the cast permanently, unlike the rest of Ratchets love interests who sadly keep getting the boot after a game or two.
The best one in my opinion is the one of the ps3. Only complaint is that it’s one of those infinitely looping games that just starts over when you beat it. Pure gameplay fun though.
I just realize that Rivet and Kit is basically Ratchet and Clank but palette swap, Rivet is grey/white like clank while Kit is all yellow like Ratchet (and also they're gender swap but we all know that)

Save the species? A) You can’t save the species with two Lombaxes, that’s biologically incapable. B) Other Lombaxes very much exist, and that’s what the ending of Rift Apart is suggesting the sequel will be.
I remember playing ratchet and clank a long time ago when I was 9 or 10 and the animation, the characters the plot, has come so far-it is heart-warming to see

Haven't played this one either since I like going through games fully. What I said was a joke cos that honestly popped into my head instantly even knowing the basics. I found it extra funny since we've all been on the Internet & the moment just made me laugh.
Having played Mass Effect and many other games that Jennifer Hale did (tremendous) voice acting for... I still can't wrap my head around the fact that she did the voice of Rivet. It's like she de-aged herself by 25 years for this specific role.
The best explanation I can think of is Ratchet not knowing she's a Lombax. He wasn't even surprised that she's a Lombax when she's unmasked, only that she's a girl.
Of course they'll put more efforts on their game, especially when it's a launch on a new console and it's their latest game. Movie was actually kinda fan service.
I love how awkward they are once they met, the like “hey” with the weird stance, clearly they are excited to meet another of their kind, and the attraction feels pretty immediate, but also they are nervous
We need another movie of Ratchet and Clank with Rivet .. this game is.. i think this is the best game i played in my life .. the story, the animation and the graphics this is a masterpiece i bought a PS5 just for this game and i don’t regret it
One thing I haven’t seen anyone talk about is: the fact that Clank keeps emphasizing Ratchet wants to “find his family.” You would think if he really cared for Talwyn that much, she (alongside Clank) would be enough, right? I mean, he wasn’t very enthusiastic about his situation at the end of ItN. That’s why I think she was a temporary thing, as awful as that sounds. But that’s just life. Young people date and break up till they find the right person. Third time’s the charm! Am I right?😂
That's what I was worried about when playing this game. At the end of Into the Nexus, Ratchet accepts and is even okay with the fact that he should appreciate what he has now instead of chasing after the Lombaxes. I REALLY didn't want them to walk that back and I'm glad they didn't. But I do think he and Taylwyn are still a thing.
If there's a sequel to this game it would be interesting to see where they take the dynamic between Ratchet and Rivet. Besides when they first meet I felt like by the end of the game they became more friendly or even sibling-like. There's still more to this story with meeting other Lombaxes so there's room to explore further.

Another fun thing to know is all the motion of the characters are traditionally animated instead of motion capture which means they could make things like movement and facial expressions more cartoony
