The NHL released Reverse Retro jerseys for every team and the BarDown crew decided to create a tier list to rate every single one. Only one jersey can be the best, but a lot of jerseys can get the "Delete this" treatment.
Its just so bland i feel as if the oilers, islanders and red wings are the most bland out of all of these jerseys. They really did put effort in those jerseys when they could've went with amazing logos
"the Buffalo at the bottom is stupid" Buffalo took the idea of reverse retro and actually did it. They took an old jersey and used their new colors. That's why they kept the Buffalo down there. Some teams didn't even do anything retro or reversed.
I wanted to see the Jets utilize the Thrashers baby blue jersey with the retro Jets logo on the center and instead of the right sleeve saying, "Atlanta", it says "Winnipeg"
Didn't he only vote Stars and Leafs in the delete this? I actually agreed with almost everything he said except teh capitals because I think that should be a C
@@Starry.0646 bro the liberty jersey was underrated. Sure it’s a little boring, like they could’ve had more red in it but that logo is iconic and honestly one of the best logos in the league. Should have been a low b at least.
It’s hard to find something new to do with it since we’ve had the same jerseys for literally 80 years but come on you have professional designers on your payroll you could’ve found SOMETHING cool
They’re pretty bad but what do you want Detroit to do? They’ve had the same uniforms for decades. There’s just nothing to work with on a reverse retro.
@@untexan like the winter classic designs. Either a D as the logo, or the words Detroit with the wheel as the logo. As a wings fan, would have been an insta-buy for me
@@kosimitz I actually think it's harder for original 6 teams. They don't generally have as much to work with as they've been using classic logos since inception
Liberty deserves to be there. They took a perfect design and screwed up the striping making it too navy. Agree with the other two though. Still trying to figure out how New Jersey isn't in A or B...
@@ryanw8220 Because it's almost the same jersey they did a while ago. New Jersey already had a jersey that had green outlining instead of black, way too similar
Damn, I knew the wings would end up in the delete tier but wasn't expecting them to shred it so quickly. "Move on, spend as much time on it as they did". Nailed it. All they had to do was bring back the barber poll or even a variation of the winter classic and I would have loved it. Looks like a practice jersey, even a couple wings players were liking tweets of people roasting it.
@@KingMusic412 Yes, a "design" that is exactly what the New York Rangers have worn since their inception, 70-odd years earlier. Only it says "Pittsburgh, not "New York" or "Rangers." It was a blatant ripoff when they first used it, now it's a "Reverse Retro" version of a blatant ripoff. 0 points for originality, twice.
I just watched a Leafs game tonight and they wore their reverse jerseys....awful! Seriously, I couldn't even read the numbers as they were the same colour as the jerseys, and what's with the grey trim instead of white? Hope that was the first and las time they wear them.
I honestly loved the panthers jersey I think it was really well designed and the logo is great, I don’t think that the nordiques one was good at all. Like cool logo but it’s so boring and it looks cheap. The kings and sabres should be in the best for sure
@@nos5822 They were right about the wilds jersey but the others are A's. Reason why is because that was what people know that was coming for the Whalers and Devils. Coyotes is my number 2.
The Wilds reverse retro is my favourite one by far, it’s gorgeous. I think they have a top 5 logo in professional sports already, and the colours on the retros are so pretty. Amazing jersey
yeah what were the Red Wings supposed to do? i dont get why they put it in delete this. If anyone messed up, its the bruins, predators, flyers and leafs...
Colorado is a perfect example..i’ve seen people say they wished it was the original Nordiques..NO! ”Reverse” the colors to their current Avalanche colors...it’s so perfect i had to get a MacKinnon one.
1:06 Winnipeg Jets 1:58 Boston Bruins 2:38 Pittsburgh Penguins 3:25 Carolina Hurricanes 3:58 Tampa Bay Lightning 4:54 Florida Panthers 5:26 Columbus Blue Jackets 5:54 Colorado Avalanche 7:15 Edmonton Oilers 8:06 Washington Capitals 8:35 St. Louis Blues 8:55 Nashville Predators 9:31 Minnesota Wild 10:46 New Jersey Devils 11:44 Ottawa Senators 12:18 Anaheim Ducks 13:28 Chicago Blackhawks 13:45 Montreal Canadiens 14:23 Los Angeles Kings 15:58 New York Rangers 16:46 Vegas Golden Knights 17:26 Vancouver Canucks 18:11 New York Islanders 19:22 Toronto Maple Leafs 20:12 Calgary Flames 21:24 Dallas Stars 21:54 Arizona Coyotes 22:35 Philadelphia Flyers 23:03 Detroit Red Wings 23:28 Buffalo Sabres 24:14 San Jose Sharks
I agree, but I also think the Flyers could have done a *bit* more to make it cooler. I would have liked to see them bring the keystone A and C patch from the 2012 Winter Classic jerseys back, and maybe throw in a Liberty Bell shoulder patch or something, but even without all of that I think it deserves better than a D
@@miracleofo2704 that is an accurate statement, but chicago did have a somewhat different-looking retro logo, and they could have also did something revolving around their alternate tomahawk jersey from the fifties.
@@emmamarsillo9221 what alternate tomahawk jersey are you talking about? i looked at all their jerseys from the 50s and the main logo is still the Indian head.
I don’t think it should be deleted, but I don’t think it should be above D. They had some good choices to go with and they went with that. I kind of understand why they did it given it was a throwback to the first jersey Gretzky wore for them. But, you had some great choices and went with that
@@linkan91H I'm just saying that a lot of them were based on emotion and nostalgia. Ducks' jersey doesn't belong anywhere above D. Stars' jersey was way too low, they treat minimalism as a sin while it was well executed on that one. Canucks' should be low just because it looks like a Sprite to them. Also, the Nordiques didn't have a good looking jersey, and they made it worse by adding Avalanche colours; it does deserve to be anywhere above "Delete This". This isn't all I have to say, just an overview. Btw, I'm from Québec, the only reason people wear that jersey is because of nostalgia.
@@felixlavigne01 Of course they based it on emotion and nostalgia, it was their opinions and now I wanted to know what is your opinion since you are a graphic designer?
@@linkan91H woah there, you answered to the wrong person then; I never claimed to be a graphic designer. I'm just saying that they more so ranked the mythos surrounding the jersey rather than the jerseys themselves. I can understand them not liking too much red or thinking that not much was done, but there are a lot that were ranked without a second glance.
What else are the leafs to do (I mean other than this atrocity)? They essentially have only had 1 logo their entire history with some small variants... they were never going to do well in this.
Blue just isn't appealing for montreal when you think of the Canadiens you think or a red jersey with that exact logo. There is definitely better logos they could've used and switched up the colour maybe a dark red or a light red but idk the blue its really just ideal for them
@@museymonkey6807 I get that, but as someone who's watched the Habs their whole life playing in the same jerseys without having a third jersey, this is kinda like a breathe of fresh air and I personally really like it.
@@museymonkey6807 Montreal is Le bleu blanc rouge (the Blue White Red). We always say that when talk about the Habs. Now they have 3 Jersey, one White, one red and one blue. It's logic. I don't know anyone so far in Montreal that don't love it.
@@critsandchaos Right? I really expected them to mention that. These will definitely be polarizing. I hope your team did better than the Red Wings did, though. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
@Brandon Smith My team is the Yotes and to put the Kachina jersey at a B Tier is asinine. They’re top 5 hands down. And biasedly I’d say number two after LA. Buuut at least they are not the Red Wings.
Yeah, it looks cheap but I kinda like how it mixes the orange and black look. Their home jersey is too orange and their alternate is too black, so this one is a good mix of both
« The Habs aren’t a blue team » The first ever Montreal Canadien’s jersey is blue, with a single white stripe and a big C on it, so yes, the Habs can be blue P.S. this one and the avs are my 2 favorites
Reasoning for putting lady liberty jersey in C tier: “The logo is a B or an A but the jersey is just too boring.” Reasoning for Nordiques jersey as the best: “The logo”
@@Billy0123 The concept for the jerseys was blending colours and designs from different eras. Going full Nordiques would have taken all the Colorado out of it.
The NHL create a team argument for the Wild jersey literally doesn't make sense when they give a Nordiques jersey the same treatment and it's voted the best.
The "Mighty Wing" is an A but the Montreal jersey is a C?! WTF?! I love Minnesota's jersey as well. The Pittsburgh jersey as an A too is strange. It is okay but not an A.
It goes for me as a wild fan The best- if u can only put one Arizona A- not in order Montreal Kings Caps Wild Flames Colorado Ducks Lady liberty B Sabers Tampa Vancouver Senators Devils Hawks C Bruins Nashville Pittsburgh Philly Islanders Blues Panthers D Vegas Jets F Red wings Toronto Dallas
As a winnipegger, I was thinking that it looks great, until I realised it looks great as pullover hoody. Not to boring but not flashy either. Good hoody, bad Jersey. It's too forgetable.
Bardown: “You’re supposed to do a reverse retro” Also Bardown: Says Montreal isn’t good because they did a actual reverse retro. I understand that looking at the Habs in blue is weird but you’re acting like they’re supposed to do one of their ugly classics but even if they did, everyone would clown them. The new Habs jersey is easily a top 3 jersey IMO, personally I say number one but I’m biased in that but they are way better than 90% of the other teams. And Calgary looks like Vancouver’s Skate jersey and no one can tell me otherwise
Coming from a habs fan I agree 1000%, but I don’t think it’s number 1 just because of how other teams implemented old colours and logo, but it’s top 5 easily for me
Agree. I don't understand putting the Islanders jersey in Delete because it's not creative enough and giving this one a B. How is it any different from what NYI did?
Im definitely bias because im a oilers fan, but this Jersey is clean imo. It just works with the reverse colours, they couldn't use the other logo because the old owner of the team owns the rights for the jersey. I do wish they brought it back but i don't think its possible. That being said the team had choose between the other jerseys which are all the same, so pretty good with the options they had.
Would've liked to see some colours switched in the logo though. Orange circle with white lettering maybe??? Then I'd give them props. This one is boring.
I was hoping for a reverse metal oil drop jersey, a white/or silver jersey with navy blue accents would've been unique for the oilers. But nah we went with a reverse that looks like our old aways from 80s lol
I was hoping for the mustard jersey design, but in navy. I like the idea of taking a jersey that was generally not well received and updating it for modern times. Almost like a second chance at righting a wrong. Same reason the Islanders could have gone with the fisherman logo. But teams that took a fan favorite style and tried to update it (ie. St. Louis, Winnipeg, etc), there just seems like more room to screw it up than there is to improve upon it.
As an Avs fan, I think this Logo and Color combo is super clean. The black I think it what makes it. If they had gone with the red jersey and the logo I would have put it down at a C or D
Seems like a straight shot at Jesse for loving his home team so much. Definitely B/C territory, at least they tried something fresh as opposed to the Oilers?!
I think the Arizona jersey should be an A without a doubt, the Penguins brought back one of their best logos in my opinion, and that Avalanche jersey makes me want it as a Penguins fan..
I love that MN Jersey. I’ve been waiting to see our colors return to the Twin Cities and I think MN nailed it. If it’s the “subway” jersey than so were the OG North Stars. W/E. Haters are gonna hate but I think it’s 🔥 and will definitely purchase it if my wife doesn’t buy it for Christmas 🎄
Calgary: doesn't reverse anything, gets an "A" (Blasty's great but it's not reverse). Montreal: reverses the entire colour history by going blue, gets a "C". Great methodology here guys.
It's reverse retro. Retro being old, reverse being colors. Reversing your current jersey is only half the job. Finding a great retro design to go along with the reverse colors is the other half of the goal here. Montreal did only half of their homework, while Calgary finished with an A.
@@dredrini7820 Calgary reversed blasty in a black jersey from 2003 with another black jersey. This is NOT reverse. Montreal used the 1979 jersey (it is in the collar) and reversed the colours. But whatever. Following your opinion, Calgary also did half the job since they did not reverse the colours.
This is my argument for why winnipeg shouldn’t be the lowest!? First of all its not even that bad, and they did exactly what they were supposed to do, reversed their retro by putting their current colors on the old school jersey
As a Habs fan I like the jersey, but I think it just looks like an alternate and doesn’t fit “reverse retro” I thought they’d at least go to the “CA” vintage logo to go retro
