I love it that everytime Belle wears her blue apron dress 💙 👗, Belle always had the little strand of hair that falls in the center of her forehead which I always find very attractive on Belle.
Belle has an iconic and timeless wardrobe. I love Ariel's clothes but they are definitely very 80s compared to this. I especially like how Belle only wears the green and pink dresses for a few scenes, it makes her seem more dynamic when she gets random outfits to wear, changing for no particular plot reason.
It always bothered me as a child when they always wore the same thing every scene lol. I’d always be like “isn’t it more fun to put them in different outfits” lol
Belle's ballgown is such a gorgeous color that it makes me kinda sad they often tone it down to yellow for marketing purposes. I totally understand the logistics of that, but I can't help but wish they kept her in a gold dress.

Yeah, and the material. The fabric they used made it look even worse. Somehow it’s matte and sparkly all at once in the worst ways. I wish they not only poofed up the skirt but used a thin layer of the best quality gold satin on top. It can recreate the sheen you see in the animated dress. And to contribute to your original point, the design is so flat. The OG dress has details to make it more three dimensional like the little ruffles and curves, whereas the live action one just layers it and that’s all.
i used to have a barbie dress of the pink dress, the details were even better than in the animation. the bell sleeves and stuff were made out of this shimmery seethrough fabric, the bodice was velvet, and the skirt was satin. they didnt have to go that hard on a minor dress from the movie but they did. forever my favorite princess dress
As far as Disney princesses dresses go imo this one and Cinderella's are unbeatable. (Altho I do have a soft spot for Aurora's pink/blue kinda gothic inspired dress ngl)
I think the recreation of the yellow dress that H.E.R. wore for the live anniversary special ha been the best I’ve seen so far, they did a fantastic job making classic and a bit more modern
Belle has my favorite of the casual/peasant dresses. The red winter outfit is so underrated. The green one is a good color and silhouette but I’m generally not a fan of puffy sleeves and think it could have used more of a setpiece but I get that it’s only there for a small amount of screentime. And of course that gold ballgown is very beautiful and unique. I’ve seen dressmakers/cosplayers/artists on deviantart do amazing takes on the gold ballgown.
In my personal opinion while also speaking from experience since I’m a brunette, I believe brunettes look best in Green, Red, Gold, and Blue so in conclusion Belle looks like a beauty at all times.
Honestly, I think they could still nail the dress live action cuz I've seen costume designers make it work regardless if their version is movie or historically accurate.
Totally agree!!! 🌹 Belle has the best wardrobe out of all the Princesses with Ariel coming second for me ❤ I hate when people say her ballgown is yellow when it’s clearly meant to be more like gold. I think that’s why the live action versions keep messing it up so much. I also agree that Belle’s peasant look is the most iconic with probably Ariel’s blue outfit or Aurora’s “Briar Rose” outfit coming in second.

Out of all the dresses that Belle has worn in the movie I love the pink winter dress she wears for the snow scene that is so beautiful and yet so simple at the same time but I also love her yellow ball gown but the one for the snow scene is my personal favorite
The gold dress is easy to make it. Look at Broadway and big stage adaptations of Beauty and the Beast. The original Broadway show had TWO gold dresses for Belle since she wore the dress twice in the animated film

To work that out, I loved her and I went to save her and her prince husband and her father from Gaston.

Personally I think her classic blue /white dress makes her look like a puppet on a string (like the dutch puppets in pinocchio). And her fluffy winter dress makes her look like a teddy bear. Both of which are cute

I think it would have been MORE interesting if Belle wasn't super attractive. Belle's outward beauty gives the Beast something to strive for in terms of wooing her, yes, and he does fall in love with her personality. But he remarks at the beginning of the movie that he finds her attractive (not to be too harsh but he's not actually a bad looking beast I mean at least he's a mammal you know) and so it's not exactly hard for him to put in an effort. What I mean is there's a pretty big reward for him learning to be a little bit kinder without him really learning his lesson and loving Belle for what's on the inside.

Honorable mention: I know it’s from the sequel but I love Belle’s soft maroon Christmas gown. It’s a very flattering color on her I love the light gold details on the bodice as well as the little rose. But the big bow on the back of dress feels a bit out of place. I would have removed the bow. 9/10. I want that dress for myself but with a slight modern twist to it. Perhaps a shorter skirt that goes to the ankles
