Didn't realize you did this. I've had some Jared moments. 1) I said "At least I know that if I'm ever brain damaged, I can still go work for a consulting firm" to my PM. He laughed 2) When pressed about deadlines: "Okay, is anyone going to die? Are we going to break the law? Are we going to lose a bunch of money? Are we about to harm our reputation? If the answer to all of those is 'no', then we can push the delivery date"

As for the speaker one: I've been the person saying "this is incorrect." and every time I was overruled since the "senior tech" knew what they were talking about. The "senior tech" was neither senior nor a tech.

I work in a really huge factory. Thousands of people work in that building. My new supervisor is trying to make us show up to the stand-up faster after we clock in so we can make it to our pass downs from the day shift workers, but his tendency to talk slowly for 20 minutes cannot be solved that way. I am anticipating the moment where I tell him to put something in writing.

I’ve been watching your shorts and I had no idea you do long form content. I’m so glad!

I had the (mis)fortune to experience this weird HR, IT, Sales, Engineering meeting on meeting on meeting kind of environment at my previous job. I thought that shorts like that were overdramatic with the amount of meetings or this Agile thing... I literally had 4 hours of meeting one day, could barely do my tasks for that day talking about task boards and things. Yeah, my job before that was rather Neanderthal level in organization, but beyond the occasional email to lay out the things that need to be done there were no meetings, just a quick talking over the project and "alright let's stop wasting time"

Honestly, doing things in a jokky manner to avoid the tension makes me feel weak, not my cup of tea at all. I am being straightforward until I get fired or they fix themselves 😒

I use to work as a Systems Engineer it was hybrid hardware/software so we would usually put together servers or server racks and load companies customized images on them and test them and ship them. I remember one time while working there I was working a large Telco contract and the PM for the team was absolutely clueless couldn't even filter his Outlook email box or anything. He sent me a DM saying that I needed to get something shipped out the door by the end of the day that wasn't even in my hands yet. So i went over to his desk and told him flat out no its not happening. He gave me push back saying the customer needs it and i said well if of the customer needed it so bad you should have done your job better and planned this appropiately. I'm in a cube farm and basically shouting at this guy. My supervisor can definitely hear and so can 10+ other people. In the end I ended up getting it shipped on time, but damn did it feel good to shout at that dude.

I'm the guy who submitted the message regarding the co founders. I wasn't a co founder 😂 the founder brought in his friend and his friend gave himself the title of co founder even when the employees were there already 😂

Shame I didn't see this earlier. Definitely a Jared. I stood in the smoking area and calculated everyone shitty pay rises compared to inflation. Then back calc'd it to when they were hired and explained they're making less money than when they were hired. Also explains that the company is making more money per a person than previous year. The manager just gave up with me and stop trying to feed me shit. I also started to train my other colleagues to ask loaded questions during meetings and would attend meeting to support colleagues with managers. Surprised I wasn't pushed out harder. my direct manager used to hate me but when he came to my department he was shocked that I was managing to keep the dept functioning. It ended when they handed my junior with a promotion above of me. I had over a million on my desk of work and the most complex things enabling them to do the biggest projects they ever had. My junior had the simple basic projects that was more cookie cutter. Anyways found a new job a few weeks after that. I was put on gardening leave for a month probably because they feared me without needing the job would only triple down on being a nuisance to management especially with the recent middle finger they gave me. (probably why I didn't get the position don't want to give me any more power 😅). New job I am making almost double, WFH, given cash for a deposit for a flat and a pay rise because I was in trouble with renting.

I feel this guys vibes but regardless of how stupid people are at work, no one wants to work with an asshole. There are far more constructive ways to raise concerns with projects and tasks at work. Try to be a good human.

To be fair, FAT32 is so simple writing it yourself is probably fine. You can find open source FAT32 implementations that are less than 2000 lines of code. Of course, it depends on what you're doing with it. Are you having to write hacks to add features FAT32 doesn't support, while ignoring most of the few features FAT32 does have? And do you not need external compatibility? Yeah, then for sure, don't just use FAT32 because it's common.

Im not too confrontational, but when a coworker had went completely against the way the company had trained her to load a shipment into a truck and caused a mess, id asked her why she was loading that way, she said that "her way was easier" I slapped the truck and asked her, "DOES THIS SAY [her name]'S SHIPPING COMPANY ON THE SIDE????"

I think the best part is the manager was there and heard the whole thing. The look on his face lmao
