Watching the evolution of the super and seeing Pot get some love in the dramatic super animation department is awesome. What a spectacular character man.
There's lots of gags in character's HPB animations. Potemkin's eyes lag behind him like a cartoon. Many weapons stay in frame a few frames longer than the characters do, Leo grins and challenges Potemkin to do better, stuff like that
I love Giovanna's because she not only looks very nonplussed, the VA sells it so hard when she just deadpans "this is a little bit too high, mate". Brisket's is also super fun, not wanting to believe she went to actual heaven XD Also, yes, that grab box tho... so tiny
Gio is new, and hasn't had time to fully realize what's about to happen. Meanwhile, someone like Sol who has been there with Pot since the beginning knows full well what's coming.
I love playing grapplers in fighting game, and for me, Strive HPB is the best buster type moves ever in every fighting games. The amount of animation time, the impact, the satisfaction, the damage, everything. Its just perfect. Honestly idk how they will improve Strive HPB for next GG games because this is already perfected.
Goodness! Strive's Heavenly Pot Buster is the hardest to land outside of combos, but it's easily the most beautiful version of the super when it lands! The fact it gives the opponent a glimpse of heaven before dropping them back down to earth is part of why it's my favorite super in the game!
I've never seen anyone point this out so imma do it myself. Has anyone noticed how Potekim has some of the most goofy ahh animations and reaction when stuff happens to him like a punch to the face, missing his PB or (as shown in this vid) getting HPB'd
My only wish for Strive's HPB was that there were a few characters delivering the ol' Rollercoaster Scream. Just one syllable in a word transforming from a word into a scream as the descent started. Otherwise, I can't get enough of HPB.
HPB is such a glowup. I feel like Strive's lost some identity with it dropping the ceiling aspect but given that that didn't make sense on a bunch of stages, and the fact that he actually literally takes you to heaven now, I love it.
I never understood xrd hbp. He's stuck on the ceiling like a bat then moves up while putting himself back up ? Also strive hpb is legit the best looking super I've seen in any fighting game
He's not really landing on the ceiling, per se; he's just doing a flip through the air. It's honestly kind of weird choreography no matter how you slice it, though.
@@controlcore1 in Xrd there's literally a piff of smoke from his feet as if hitting the ceiling, and in both Xrd and XX he bends his knees at the top of the jump.
@@cooperlittlehales6268 The smoke puffs out of his core, and his legs don't bend much beyond natural movement, though I can certainly see how it'd look that way.
What I do like about xrd hpb, is that they do more focus on the opponent's reaction. Strive does too but not too much. Also, something I'd like to add, I'd rank his 3 voice lines in Strive. The first one you got honestly kinda ruins it because it's just "Heavenly. Potemkin. Buster." 8/10 Then there is the second one you got that is much better, because he yells "Heavenly Potemkin Buster". 10/10 And then there is the third one that it didn't appear in the video, which is my favorite because it sound like a FULL POWER HPB. He destroys his lungs by yelling "HPB". It gives me chills everytime I hear it and I love it. 15/10 PS: I remember beta HPB was different and it had the same ending as xrd (zooming in Potemkin)
I'll be honest. I really only like the Strive version, I think the "landing on the ceiling" bit really kills the momentum of the move and looks awkward at best
I would say 9/10 for strive version, it will be even better if reaction animation is longer like Faust wheelchair thus I don't need to slow motion to see details
100% agree with the need to buff HPB. The only thing more obnoxious than it whiffing when it seems like it shouldn't is the accidental slide head when attempting to HPB.
Gio beat nago faster when sol pre nerf couldn't (granted she didn't want to kill him) Gio also not caring about hpb? Easy top 5 strongest char in gg verse
Potemkin in XRD really bugs me because like think about his fucking movement. He goes up jumps down of the ceiling than wtf happens than??? Does he fly back up some how, I guess that explains the fire around him when he does it but it just looks weird. It isn't a flued line of movement. Also not helped by how it doesn't have that impact when he jumps making it look like he shouldn't even be going up. Huge improve in Strive. Camera goes around him as HE JUST GOES UP stop to admire heaven and reaction that BOOM. It's flued and simple to see what is happening.
Strive Heavenly will always have the least impact, he's not even slamming you down he's lightly dropping to the ground like a wet sock after going so high to do NOTHING
what do you mean "he lands on the ceiling that doesnt exist" he just does a flip midair and its the same with Xrd, the flip is always the coolest thing about heavenly that differentiates it from a normal pot buster and thats why i think strive heavenly is the worst the flip was like the whole point to me, i also dont like the fact that its rocket thrusters that make him get that high i always thought of it as just a pretty abstract force that just launches him upwards the same way something like an airdash isnt really explained before and now they have these like forcefields appear behind the characters for them to airdash off of
You can hear the THUD of him landing on the "ceiling", he's not just doing a flip. Also he pauses for like a whole second on said "ceiling." And if the whole point was just the flip, then that's incredibly lame. It's why XRD had to put so much emphasis on the victim because Pot's not really doing much.
@@Frankentank i dont know i never really thought of that thud sound effect as him landing on something i thought of it more as just like a dramatic effect cause in +R its literally the explosion noise they use for other things, even in strive they do a similar thing with the shine sound effect that plays when he reaches peak altitude, and even in Xrd where it weirdly has like an effect of him landing on something i would take that more as them making an effect for him literally HITTING the peak altitude
im just really not a fan of cinematic supers in games, in general. they just take to long and break up the flow of the game. anything i can skip ahead on youtube while watching and not miss any of the actual game is to long!
I agree. Even as a Pot main, heavenly is really cool but every time I land it I have time to put my controller down, grav my water, take a long as drink, then have enough time to pick my controller back up and charge Hammerfall before it ends.
I don't mind cinematic for super grabs. And especially considering you're not going to be hitting Heavenly all that much in Strive, the animation makes it all the more worth it.
