Hello Creative Adventurers! Today, I'm rating six top tools to help you sew a straight and accurate seam. I'm rating each one on ease of use, effectiveness and cost. I want to add my 2 cents that the laser beam so a no go for me. The light tends to vibrates terribly unless your machine is solid as a rock! Also i use 2 way sticky tape and a kids lego as a seam guide. Works like a dream. For quilting long runs painters tape. I use inexpensive kids markers that disappear with a damp cloth for marking fabric. Usually they come packaged in several colors. All these things I get at the dollar store. I hate throwing money away when I could use it on nice fabric. Thanks for the video

Great reviews, Debbie. I have the Diagonal Seam Tape, but I always have an issue with the tape ends curling up from abrasion. There are other things you can stick on the bed of your machine. Some quilters sell their own products, like Steady Betty, who has an adhesive foam strip that acts like a ledge. For the most part, I rely on my presser foot. Thanks for the thorough review. I really enjoyed your video and how much information you gave. Two things I’d like to add. When using diagonal tape on machines with top-loading bobbins, changing the bobbin requires either cutting the tape near the bobbin area or replacing it with every bobbin change. I do love this tape though. Another issue I’ve run into with seam guides is that I have a Janome M7 and the feed dog area is wider than some of the feet. This prohibits placing a seam guide immediately to the right of these particular feet.

Thank you! I’m glad you found it helpful. Yes, I understand about the top loading bobbin as my Singer machine that I used to use had this issue as well. While a bit annoying to replace the tape, it was worth it for the versatility of the diagnosing tape. Thank you for in the information about the Janome feed dogs. That’s something I’ll have to look at when I eventually upgrade my current machine.
