You’re not gonna see this but all your videos have actually helped me become a better artist (only on paper so far, I’m still learning on digital) but I literally love your content
hey sam! as an artist of 9+ years that started to actually get good in 2020, i thought i’d take my chances with digital art. as i’ve never done it before (until 2021), i absolutely sucked, but i told myself i’d get better. your videos help me with how i draw and stuff like that! im a pencil artist that very seldom colors my drawings, but with you helping so many people i thought i’d see how much of a big help you are! much love!!
Lets just hope that u see this sam. You've helped a LOT of artists especially me i wouldn't have got here without ur amazing arts thank you so much for inspiring us sam!
holy crap THANK U for addressing the watermark obsession artists have. some people are putting more work and thought into watermarking their art than drawing it i swear. if someone REALLY wants to steal your work, they will find a way around your watermark. Tracing is a thing too. You can't fight it completely, I say throw on your signature and leave it be.
11:00 To be honest I kind of prefer this over distracting watermarks. It's better to work the watermark into the composition so even if someone would remove it would be extremely noticeable because it'd leave a huge dead space.
The artist wrote very visible on the screen that they have two watermarks though. One visible and one that art thiefs might overlook or don't bother to remove, so it's easier to prove the origin
@@kuraimegami_rica Then I agree with Sam, but at the opposite argument. The composition one is cool, the distractive one just works against the composition.
@@AniMesuro Yea sometimes signatures and watermarks can be quite distractiong. There are tips to have a visible signature, while not disturbing the overall look of the picture. But in the end it's up to each individual of course ^^
11:08 hey Sam, thanks for this little tidbit i used to post my art a lot years ago, but recently i've been very hesitant about it because the idea of thieves really gets to me but your words really made me realize i'm restricting myself! i'm gonna get back into it because i have improved significantly and am proud of my progress thanks again!!
Here are my art tips: 1. Let go of that perfectionist feeling (example: I colored the skin the wrong color) 2. If ur at school and u don’t know what to draw and u rn can’t draw without a reference, use a book’s cover as a reference
I'm early and I never and but I want to thank you for helping me on my art journey. Im really not that good at drawing but I'm trying my best and practicing tips that you give. I love your videos!
I'm soo lucky to have such a great and kind artist in my life. You're like a long lost brother i never had 😭😭 so greatful to have someone who looks out for me 💜 thanks for existing
I swear, every time I watch your videos I pick up my pen and start drawing, it feels like drawing with you. You really motivate people, keep up the good content!
7:30 YES!!! I know tracing is very looked down upon in the art community, but seriosly, if you dont post traced art with no credit, youre fine to trace. I used to trace my cousin who traced terenry rm (and yes, i did post the traced art, that was 4 years ago) i got the muscle memory to improve QUICK. in 4 years (started in 2018) i got from making shaky lineart and simple ocs with no color theory with one color really bright bgs to fully shaded, complicated scenes with cleaner lines, all because i traced for like a month. Its a great thing to do, if you trace someone who has the art style you want on your own time without posting it, i really think it would help
you got me at 5:55... I've studied art, and I practice it very lightly. I won't call myself deeply invested in art. But I don't think there's a checklist for artists and what they "need/must" know. There are common basics, and the rest is just pure interest and personally developed knowledge - that being either self-taught from experience or educationally gained knowledge. Artists, even throughout history, almost did not attend any college or get any "formal" education. Leonardo Da Vinci developed his own theories and understanding of human anatomy. Looking today, there is more knowledge built-up, sort of a database, but that does not necessitate any artist to know/learn it. You can go about your journey in your own way. I love your videos, and your comments are to a level helpful, so thank you for all that you're trying to do and all the help you're trying to give to other artists.
1:40 Honestly when it comes to creative block, that tip is actually incredible, like I absolutely despise abstract, but sometimes when I really don't have any motivation, just start doodling and suddenly you will see a shape and think, "ohh, shark with a top hat" if I run away from my responsibilities there will go about 2 months before I even touch a pencil and I don't like it.
I love how excited Sam gets when he sees someone using his art in a video. It warms my heart knowing that I'm not the only artist that just wants to know people are actually paying attention to my art. ;^;
Hey Sam just wanna say that you helped out my art so much throughout the years and I just wanna say I really appreciate all the hard work you put into your videos thank you so much. 🥰
I remember when I first stumbled across your accounts and was struggling to like my art, you really helped me start appreciating my art and my art journey🥰 thank you so much sam ✨💖
I’m honestly so grateful for finding your Channel, instagram and Patreon. I’ve been in a bad art runt for years now and hearing your advice, seeing your growth, skill and understanding of your work has helped me a lot with just .. wanting to be better and finding the fun in drawing again. Just wanted to say thank you so much my dude 🙏🏾 for all that you do and create
The first hack, the one about the white outline, actually helps a lot because I don't have a steady hand and the thickness will stay the same throughout! But to each their own
I always get excited whenever you post Sam. It just makes my day! Even though it's literally 12 AM here in the Philippines, now I don't know whether I should sleep or watch 😪
Thanks Sam for making these types of contents for us As an 11 yr old that's been drawing for like 5/6 years, your videos help me improve more and more and I'm already advanced at it!
Hey Sam, I've been watching your videos for a while and I want to tell you that you're my biggest inspiration. You have taught me a lot and I really enjoy watching your content. Thank you!
I really needed that bit about stolen art. I've recently been slightly stressed cause a specific art piece of mine had been stolen multiple times and a more serious instance had just come to my attention. I started stressing about watermarks and well, your words calmed me down :) so thank you.
8:16 i tried this recently and it worked wonders, especially since I don’t like doing full bodies because they scare me, but that technique really improved my ability to draw exactly what I wanted to (and practicing that technique has helped me freehand things I couldn’t before).
I developed my art style by most of the cartoons I watched most of my childhood and some anime throughout that time of my life, I also looked at fan art of things I enjoyed and the more of the art I found the more I started to draw what felt right to me, I found out I really enjoyed drawing in a cartoonish type of style, when I started to draw(age 3-6) I drew a oval-ish cricle(that doesn’t make sense I know) as the head shape, and as I grew older I started to draw the head with a curve to represent where the cheek is, I also found out that I can only draw a more anime-like art style when I have a lot of inspiration and motivation(which is really hard to have both at the same time)on digital and on paper
when i started watching this channel like 6 months ago i was like "heh, thats pretty funny" and now im just laughing non-stop, the jokes got so much better lately and every new video is a banger, thanks sam!
I love your art so much, and I’ve grown a lot thanks to your content. So thank you so much, I’ve learned a lot from you, and besides that you’ve motivated me to learn things on my own time.
I am literally astonished, i have watched like four videos of you and i have always struggled with drawing faces but i just fell so inspired that i just made a bit of a quick sketch, trying out a new brush-type doing the anatomy, placing the head slightly angeled down and it actually doesn’t look that bad so yeah i’m subscribing
I have a lot to thank you for, your videos have helped me to progress and still are, and will probably continue for a long time, there's always room for more progress, so thanks for helping, your content is amazing
Hi Sam! I absolutely love your art and i hope i get better like you. Don't stop making great videos, and hope you can do more tiktok art challenges cuz i like looking at your art as an inspiration and a reference. ❤❤
Joining the patreon a few months back really helped a ton, joined and intended to just snag the skin tutorial and dip but fuck the discord is so nice and the tutorials help so much, I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.
i'm a young artist hoping to get into the world of art as a career, whether its animation or illustration, and your videos constantly give me that extra push to go back to the basics and work on anatomy which is incredibly helpful since i lack motivation to practice. one day you might see my art in ur roasting tag, and will be in a state of shock. lol hav a goodday
Sam you help me am with my art and you inspire me a lot. As a young artist o look up to your work as inspiration:DD please keep posting and doing what you love . Love your content:]
Watching your videos have really made me want to develope and embrass my art skills, even though I hate drawing, I don't find it fun or glamorous, maybe it's because I just don't like the process but it's the only way I like to express myself and watching your videos have made me express myself on my art better
sam: acts mildly impressed by blur brush making abs sam 3 seconds later: you're good you just need the fundamentals of colors you just need the fundamentals of lighting and maybe all the basic anatomy and muscle structure and bone structure of the human body and how to draw shapes in three-dimensional space as well as some of the more advanced techniques like sub-surface scattering use of ambient lighting and you know creating a composition that allows your eyes to flow throughout the painting and land at your focal point but yeah i mean overall the brush is great and i tHiNK yOu rEaLLy goT iT
Hi Sam, I love your vids and you inspire me. Every time I watch your videos I feel like drawing. I just started digital art when I got a drawing tablet for my birthday but I'm not that good at it so once I get a job, I was thinking I should follow your Patreon tutorials. I've always wanted to have an art career and I just want to thank you for doing what you do because if it weren't for you, I probably would'nt be motivated enough to even draw anymore. You are loved an appreciated. I love your art. Please don't ever stop what you're doing. ❤ Love, Your Art Baby
That tip on tracing while drawing from a reference is really good, and something I've thought up to do myself. Just make sure you don't stop on the trace, but draw another sketch afterwards, or else you wont really absorb the information. Also don't start on the trace either.
To be honest your tips for how to do the body has helped me alot and seeing how you do your hair for your characters inspired me to do more realistic drawing than just lines and slapping on paint and I thank u for that 🙂🙂
My art is heavily styled, I mostly draw splatoon characters so I have tried implementing that into my art. Then for my other art I usually make the body more humanly proportioned .
I’ve gotten back into art recently and I struggle with maintaining consistency between my drawings, I can only really draw heads but I’m still practicing and your videos help a lot! Thank you!
This man literally inspires me to keep drawing despite having no motivation. Istg once i become a story board animator in the future I'll still keep watching this man.
