Why does Sam look like an underpaid MAPPA animator who's been stuck in their basement for a month forced to animate every new anime that comes out simultaneously?
"2-4 inches??? That's huge! That's too long! No thanks, I think I'm gonna stick to my 1 inch lines, that's average sized... right- right guys?" - Samdoesarts, 2024
I gotta say man, I just discovered your videos a couple days ago and already they give me so much motivation that I opened a fresh sketchbook and started practicing. I'd like to fill a page a day but I don't know if I'll be able to keep that up with my work schedule... Thank you for the random bit of motivation!!!
I started learning the Loomis method at the same time that I began studying skulls and skeletons and they both have great things to teach you, both are incredibly important. The Loomis method definitely will help you position details correctly and SOME elements of structure but actually studying the skull to understand the underlying bone structure of the face? INVALUABLE for designing unique characters and understanding how expressions work.
personally the cross for me (my style is very stylized) is mostly an indication of where my character should be looking but the vertical line is how big the head is and the horizontal line i like to use as the mid point for my eyes to measure how tall i want them but i draw that bc i like how it looks
I really like Sam and his videos, and I like his creative work even more! And in general, for me, he is an example of an ideal person: Handsome, Smart, Creative, Talented, Strong, and the list goes on and on! It was thanks to him that I started drawing and started making videos! Thanks Sam!
"think like a photographer, take lots of shots" I was in school for photography and main thing my teachers told was to really think about shots and dont do much. One well thought shot is worth of thousand quick ones.
I'd been training drawing for architecture before I actually started studying Graphic Design and as a result I can draw a straight line which is about 50 cm (around 19 inches) after a quick warm up. You need much more than drawing straight lines to actually draw well, although it helps with perspective on larger formats
I waved at him during the intro just to follow along, but I was actually frightened when he took out the sword. 😭 Anyway, we actually got good tips this time, TikTok can really surprise you.
really random, but as a Canadian myself, just wanted to drop a fun fact about the end : you CAN wash you Canadian dollars since they are made of plastic. pretty cool right?
