I like how all the rats, squirrels, and birds are fighting each other then when the cat approaches at the end they are all like RUUUNN!! Suddenly they aren’t so tough anymore.
@@justinr1513 cats never lose their heritage! They will always know how to fight! But squirrels are faster and totally have fight or flight behavior. And an urbanized squirrel or pigeon or rat isn’t scared of much something trying to attack it when it’s hungry. They learned how to fight back.
The squirrels seem quite tolerant of the rats because from where I'm looking the squirrel looks like it could easily handle the rat but is more concerned with eating
Xivety Me think that it's a mother rat and her young. Watching the fighting between the squirrel and rat in slow-mo is hysterical. It's like "Everybody was Kung Fu fighting."
@@justwondering147 they're actually are mice in the video. U can't tell the difference in a rat and a big ass mouse?? Just look at the ears and tail...
Those are some young rats. But honestly, most rodents will coexist if there is enough food. They only get annoyed when the food starts to run low or it's in a small cubby. If they can keep their distance, they prefer to share rather than fight. Not all rodents will be like this, but most will co-exist if they can. It's a genetically selected to increase their own chances of survival by staring near other small prey animals to ensure that they have a larger chance of not being killed by a predator. Squirrels also have a highly adapted predator signaling system and will bark and shout to other squirrels in the area to signal any danger. Rats and mice have this too, but humans usually don't hear it unless indoors. Squirrels barks however are LOUD and can be quite annoying. Most people likely assuming they're hearing a bird.
That squirrel has big balls. IdK why the squirrel is so selfish; there's enough food for all of them. Those are the cleanest rats I've ever seen, must not be NYC.
Roof rats, treading lightly around that squirrel. A Norway rat of considerable size, may try to attack, and even kill, the squirrel. Roof Rat has big mouse ears, longer tail and a more pointed head/snout than Norway Rat and are smaller and not as vicious.
Thanks for this! Very interesting watching the interaction. Where is this? What kind of doves are those? I have rats and squirrels, and my rats wouldn't dream of messing with the squirrels. I was watching them eating/gathering sun hearts a couple of weeks ago. Good-size female rat and a squirrel. The squirrel would run over and tackle the rat and bite? it. The rat would just duck and cover and go back to foraging when the squirrel got off it. But it wouldn't get close like yours did. Also, I'm hoping this is a private place where nosy neighbors can't see and have a freakout because of . . . Dun Dun Dun . . RATS!!!
@@Bettersucksaul I wish my squirrels would do that. So far they seem to peacefully coexist as they eat everything. Soon it will be bird feeding season and the varmint pigs eat way more than the birds get.
...you have (had) a serious rat problem. They may be cute, but when they're coming out in such numbers during the day, it's a sign that there's a massive population somewhere. They look healthy, healthier than some of the squirrels, but still.
I have 4 or 5 squirrels living under the eaves and under 3 way video surveillance. About 2 months ago one squirrel got it's tail stripped of fur almost to the end. UGLY! Cat or possibly possum? It's now nearly grown out. Somebody said that is the only thing that sets squirrels apart from rats & mice. No! Squirrels have to get up in the middle of the night to go out and pee. R&M live in a toilet and then turn the whole place into one.
