Yesterday all ABBA members got reunited briefly for a prestigious award. They got a Royal order from the King and Queen of Sweden and attented the Palace to be honoured for their contribution in music culture and their country being influential cultural ambassadors.Ceremony was beautiful, humble warm and emotional for many of us fans who loved them and grew up with these 4some humble legends.
Frida for me is the star of the group. Everyone is bloody brilliant at what they do, but Frida is really integral to the ABBA sound and her voice is really unique and versatile. I actually think the guys underutilized her. They gave the two women about the same amount of leads, and Frida’s actually charted better, but they tended to give her songs that kept to her lower register and chest voice, utilizing her sultry, seductive side, but rarely gave her a lead that soared in her upper register, which when you hear in her solo career, is very edgy and rock heavy. When you listen to her on her own, you realize that her voice really punches up the backing layers of the ABBA tracks… she adds this sound that Björn and others have described as hi-fi. I think because she has such range, going from mezzo to almost alto and baritone notes to singing nearly as high as Agnetha, she can really pad out the backing vocals and fill the song with layers of sounds. If you haven’t already, check out more ABBa songs where she sings lead, and her solo material. Agnetha is a great pop artist, but Frida can sing almost anything.
Could not agree more. Frida does the heavy lifting in the vocals. She often had the more difficult role in the melodies. She was definitely under utilized despite the overall 50/50 vocal share between Agnetha and Frida. Love Agnetha but it's Frida's voice all the way for me. I completely get why others think it's the other way round. It's all personal taste in the end. Abba ain't Abba without them both.
Having seen ABBA live in London at Wembley Arena in 1979, I can also state that she was born to entertain 🤔 she comes alive Infront of a live audience more energetic than the other members of ABBA, and both ladies are so much more beautiful in person than what you see in any video or photographs. Frida was always my pin-up girl🥰 🇬🇧🤗
Thanks Ratty! Thanks, Alexander! ⭐⭐⭐⭐ To anyone who has devoted a great deal of time and effort to the performing arts, while still struggling to have loving relationships (despite the distance and chaos)... this song's lyrics hit deeply.
thank you for this video and return with your reaction and comments to ABBA songs I was one of those who request these song, when You did "The winner takes it all" long time ago "Super trouper" (1980) was the nine and last single #1 to ABBA in UK ; and it was the #1 (with the album too) the day than the iconic John Lennon was murder and is the second most selling ABBA song in UK (only behind Dancing Queen) It's the opening track in Their seventh album "Super Trouper" , that was #1 too in UK and several countries of all continents This album included the most heartbroken song "The winner takes it all" , it shows how versatily ABBA is, two songs different in style and lyrics and lead singer, and worldwide hit too in "Súper Trouper" you can hear clear the brunette Frida amazing sweet as a lead singer, the blonde Agnetha fantastic in second voice (as could see specialy in the second verse of the official video), and a beautiful melody with power and catchy chorus (with 'a capela' parts) "Super Trouper" is in my Top10 of ABBA songs. and my Top5 of Frida as lead voice in ABBA songs (in fact, is My favourite with Frida leads in ABBA) See you in the next video to ABBA songs My best regards to You from Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷 South America
Hi, Ratty! Frida❤ leading is amazing too... Try 'When all is said and done' (The breakup song for Frida & Benny) or 'Tropical Loveland' (a reggae 😮!) Take care, men✌️! Love ❤️ from Chile 🇨🇱🤗👍
Time for some Abba live stuff. What about their 1977 tour rock opener ''TIGER".Filmed in Australia March '77 an explosive live performance under torental rain.
100% agree. The building excitement in the line "The sight of you will prove to me I'm still alive" suggests to me the two lovers are running towards each others arms.
@@JohnDoe-lt8fd Wow!...Now all those years ago i was so absorbed by the divine melody and vocals on this part , that the beauty of this lyric escaped my attention.
@@christianoazzuro6711 So many magic moments in this song! The harmonies on the 3rd line of the into "Like I always do". And the line "I was sick and tired of everything" ending on that absolutely gorgeous note.
Super Trouper is one of my favorite songs. I grew up listening to this songs in the radio when I was a baby back in the early 80s. Abba was my mom's favorite. Hit after hit. Music needs talented real artists, singers and musicians with no AUTOTUNE. ❤
Thanks for getting to this one Ratty. Also, glad that by the end of the song you ended up having a more favorable opinion of this gem with the lead vocal from Frida. And I might add that the “su pah-pah, troo pah-pah” ear worm you mentioned has been embedded in all ABBA fans from first listen, so, welcome to the club bro! I was hoping to hear you point out the juxtaposition of the bright, shiny, crisp and clean, snappy upbeat sound of the song (their ninth and final #1 U.K. single), to the story being conveyed about life on the road and on stage as a hugely successful performer is not all that it might seem. Having Frida on lead for this song is perfect as her rich and emotional vocal delivery is the counterbalance to the bright and crisp sound of the song.
You can instantly hear and see (clothes and perm that time) they've got 80's! With the title album renewed their sound technic ( new synth used). Never stand still or stick to 70's. They didn't follow trends, they created them.
