thomas muller inventing a name for his own role, and then it becoming in the game is part of what makes him one of my favorite players of all time. Like a panenka being named after the guy who first did it, and for years we all called the libero the beckenbauer role. And wide target man coming to the fore once juve did it with Mario Mandžukić. for the Raum' love to use it with an old forward who has not great physical attributes, like the enganche.
When I was younger and first heard about a panenka, I thought it was a soccer description like through ball, whipped cross, one two, etc... it wasn't until much later that I learned it was actually named after a player.
Hey, discovered your channel not too long ago and your videos have been a massive help for me, as someone who is relatively new to football in general. Really appreciate the content!
This channel is simply the best explanations of roles there is out there. To the point that in this one before you built the tactic I had several of the other roles in my head to use and why 👍🏻
that's awesome; exactly what I'd hope for! Tactics can be tricky, since I always have my biases on how I like to play. For this one I wanted to talk about the idea behind each role and then you guys can fill in as needed
Like the game say it is a space investigator for roles that actually space investigates but not called a raumdeuter is called a poacher because in more in the description of the role it is a wide poacher so using common sense it is role built for poacher that have high mental attributes you literally could put ronaldo there and he could still do a job that is what i think of raumdeuter so weirdly you probably could play this role in the lower leagues but it really depends on the league quality
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker Yeah, for me the Muller passes were perfection. Easily some of, if not, the best passes I have ever seen in FM and I have been playing the game since the 90's!
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker Deep lying playmaker defend as a holding mid then a mezzala on attack then a box to box midfielder. to see the best out of a raumdeuter and false nine you need players with high off the ball
could you please please make a video on target forwards? they're often very misunderstood and i'd be happy to learn on how to properly use them in my tactics
Absolutely!! I've got some other videos I think that are coming up, but hopefully the TF video is sooner rather than later. Appreciate the support and thanks for the suggestion!
I use the same team for my Raum tactic. Poacher, overload opposite wing with runners around Nunez as WTF. He stays wide longer before making runs which keeps the back line spread for the Raum!
His heading is okay, I just like the delayed IF type runs of a WTF for this tactic. I’m finding that the RAM is highly dependent on supporting players ability to get him the ball. It’s better to have an average RAM with good players than a good RAM with average players.
I like to keep everyone on their toes. Is your request going to be granted? Maybe, maybe not. In reality I had another video fall through so I decided to switch some stuff around lol.
I'd be interested to see how a double RMD tactic might work, since they operate so differently when the ball is on their side vs opposite. It's probably a struggle defensively though.
I used once, have great results, I had a back 5 with all defensive duties to provide balance, 2 central midfields on attack and a pressing forward, but if i take a 2-0/3-0 lead i would change to a defensive formation
@zoulflyinghigh I was thinking a trequartista as a 9 and the 2 RMDs in a 433 with an anchor and 2 bwms, basically saying 'you 3 go get goals and the rest of us will cover you.
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker Can you play a central-treq and a raumdeuter in the tactic (Because they both roam from position), when you have 2 players who match the attributes for each role. As well is this role effective in a 4-2-3-1?
@@Ram-tw5vl I think they could work together, but they'd both be attack focused. I'd probably try them together in a 433 to start. Maybe the Treq as the striker; still gives you your central Treq you're looking for, but gives you more coverage in the midfield as the two of them roam around
This is a bit of a late question, but- is it possible to have the Raumdeuter be your main goalscorer? To make it function as the wide poacher it is commonly mistaken to be?
Definitely can be your main scorer. Especially if they have player traits that help with shooting/playmaking (tries tricks, gets forward whenever possible, etc...)
Hey man. Another amazing video ❤. I just have a doubt about fm. Hope you can answer it. What’s the priority between the team instruction and individual instruction. Like for example I’m using a rpm but in my team instructions I put hold instead of counter. So I’m confused which takes priority if u get me since these 2 instructions are opposite to each other.
This is totally my conjecture since I actually don't the answer: I think the player role overrides the team instruction. That's a great question though
I thought about using him as the key player but I wanted a video that more talks about the role then him. I figured his insane passes in the middle of the video would be a great way to honor him haha
Bro i literally use the same formation and roles, just a winger on right. Thinking how would osimhen would go raumdeuter on right. We have psychic connection🤣
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker He is playing as an inside forward, but I would like to give him more freedom, like him being my Cristiano Ronaldo, the player with freedom, do you think he would work well in that role RAUM ?
@@hugodaniel8764 I think he would be. A Trequartista could be effective as well. Those two are more of a free role compared with the inside forward, and could take his game to the next level. I would try the Raum first. He'll be given a lot of open space with that role
also worth mention that game is misleading about key attributes for this role. Dribbling and passing is crucial. Like You show us in video Raumdeuter runs with ball and also providing assists. I learn that hard way switching my world class poacher to raumdeuter for 2 seasons and get frustrated why my semi-god poacher with all important attributes 15+ can't perform. The reason was dribble 10, passing 11 xD my bad - what I was thinking placing player with no dribbling skills on flank xD
you're totally right. It is weird with attributes on the player roles; even the hard coded instructions. If I'm not mistaken (off the top of my head), the Raumdeuter also has "plays short passes" as a hard coded instruction and I can for sure confirm that they play a ton of direct passes
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker exactly! How is penetrating pass trough 2 defensive lines short? XD common sight with raumdeuter, especially if you play poacher/af as striker (exactly like in your video)
@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker username checks out 😂 Bears fan from the UK. Me and my Dad are making the trip for the first time ever to Chicago, partly because we heard there's finally a QB there 😂 thanks man 🙌 assuming you're a Pathers Fan? The Bears have a lot to thank you for! DJ#2
So i really enjoy your videos to a certain extend, but most of your tactics are utter trash. My previously CL winning Hertha Berlin lost so many games in a row with that tactic, despite having some amazing players that fit this type of tactic like a glove. Even had an amazing Raumdeuter I got through my youth intake which was the main reason for trying out your tactic. I even lost against a 2.Bundesliga team, that’s how bad this tactic is.
hmmm, that's interesting.. but thanks for sharing your experience with the video! With regards to the tactic, what kinds of adjustments did you make to fit your squad? May help future videos
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker really appreciate your dedication to fixing the issue. I put on „work the ball in the box“ which didn’t work at all, so I tried „pass into space“, because I was really annoyed by the sheer amount of shots from a distance. I had a stupid amount of goals conceded from counterattacks so I turned the IWB into an IFB, which btw made everything worse and I lost in the DFB Pokal against Jahn Regensburg. I turned the Mezzala into an AP on support which seemed to ease the issue of shots taken from a distance, at least a little bit in combination with giving player instructions not to shoot from a distance. Still I never got above an XG of 1.5 even in matches against clearly worse opponents. And I concede so many goals which was kinda frustrating since in my 3 seasons before I always conceded less goals then anybody else in the Bundesliga. Probably was a bit to harsh in saying your tactics are trash I was really annoyed after losing to Jahn Regensburg 3:1. And not getting the amazing Raumdeuter i got to work made me even more mad. Sorry for that one. Like I said I really enjoy your videos and use a slight variation of your 442 counter tactic as a defensive, getting a narrow win through style of tactic. :)
The vintage parts of your videos help me remember my child self and the excitement of playing CM series in my bedroom. Whenever you drop a vid, i first watch it and then go on (:
Back when I was a kid, I had a small tv in my room. Would spend a bunch of time playing games and watching cartoons on a VCR. The aesthetic of this channel stems from that and strangely I think it works for FM haha
I don't believe there's much difference. The biggest thing would be with mark position, your player would mark the full back (or whatever position) the whole match. Whereas with mark player, if the opponent's player your marking is substituted, that instruction goes away
I could really use an adce for finding the best roles for and around my star player in the AM spot. On paper he should be an amazing Trequartista or a SS, in reality so far he plays better as AM-At, but he doesn't get quite as many assists (3) and goals (5 with xg around 9,5) as he should after 19 games. I watched a few games in full, and he doesn't seem to be used as much. Perhaps adding a Raumdeuter on the wing instead of IW would give him more space to play in the middle? Lots of clubs in serie A packs the centre quite densely. Or could it be that he simply underperformed due to morale issues (I like my best players to grow old in the club)?
Sometimes I find that getting other players out of the way is the best starting point. So that could work with switching the IW to a Raum; one of them will be in space that's for sure. Going to give up a bit in defense, but easy to change some other player roles around. I had a similar issue I talked about in the Roaming Playmaker video. I had an RPM paired with a CM(D) and what ended up happening was the CM(D) kept getting in the way. I changed him to a CM(A) and it freed up a ton of space for the RPM
So far I have the best defensive in the Serie A, so I am actually thinking about going more offensive anyway. I actually watched the roaming playmaker video again today, to see whether its better fit for my (so far) DLP.
i’ve been binging all of your videos for the past few days and i just want to use all of them now, the way you also explain things is insanely easy to understand while being in depth. Love the videos brother, Keep it up.
Yea it's like the Raumdeuter values open space above all; waits for the ball to get to him. He'll roam immaterial to where the ball is where the Treq wants the ball and will follow it
I've been using Bowen as a Raumdeuter off and on in my West Ham save with mixed results but I think if I tweak the rest of the team using your tips (I was very nearly there), then I think the mighty Hammers will be making a run for the title!
Good luck!!! I think that can also be the nature of the Raum as well; like any other attack focused role they can have those stretches where they don't do much (even across multiple matches)
Those assists might be the greatest through balls I’ve ever seen from this game 🫡 I’ve definitely misunderstood this role though so the insight is really helpful
