One of the best Pavane I've heard, close to what Ravel himself played (listen to his piano rolls). The closing chords are played mf at the end of each section, unlike most modern interpreters who bang a ff out of context (written in the piano part but avoided by Ravel). The tempo is steady without over interpretation. Great stuff.
This is the best interpretation of these wonderful pieces I've ever heard. The old pleyel piano has a unique sound it's just beautiful. I didn't enjoy Ravel very much until I heard this recording now I've fallen in love with it.
Gary's Whisky Reviews Perlemuter’s recordings of Ravel are priceless as he personally knew Ravel and was even taught how to play his pieces by the composer himself. This is the objectively correct way of playing these pieces and considering Ravel made a point of asking people to always play his pieces rather than interpreting them I’d say it is the only way they should be played.
Raanan Eylon this recording is incredible. All these more modern recordings don't sound right to me. This was played on a pleyel piano which gives it this light twinkly tone very different from the grand pianos we hear nowadays.
@@gazebo2012Yes, love the sound of this piano,it sounds so warm and mellow, perfect for Ravel, the big grand pianos are so bright and sharp, it doesn't fit the mood of Ravel's music. The only current pianist I like that plays a lot of Ravel is Pascal Roge, check him out if you don't know him, he's wonderful.
it is truly wonderful to be able to listen to the performances by el Maestro Vlado Perlemuter of the piano music of Ravel. likewise, it is a great joy to be able to listen to the performances by la Maestra Monique Haas of the piano music of Ravel. thank you very much and greetings from Tokyo.
I surely visualize Princess MARGARITA when I listen to this song ... This song is sad and solemnly,; Which national person are you watching this video ? please tell me it .
