Raven 101 Ep. 6: How to RANK UP | Tekken 8 Raven Guide 

Clicked for me a couple days ago, mids and lows are the name of the game. Can’t do too much in one round but condition them enough and they will start panicking. Great vid!

Man you're the only creator i know who actually makes guides like these with their mains, and not just "oh here are the key moves, you can generally do this with them" . A lot of people don't actually go into depth with how you use a character in neutral, specific situations, character specific stuff, general tips, etc. coz either they feel people know how a character's used in neutral because they match up with that character or they don't want to give away their own playstyle. But you know you main a cool character with a low pick rate and want more people to get to know him because you genuinely enjoy seeing people play your main more than anything else. Like i know half the reason might just be because raven kind of has a very non-standard neutral but no one would make just general situation guides like these if not for genuine love for a character, which is awesome to see.

I'm in Mighty Ruler currently. I did feel a plateau going into orange. I played alot of Player matches and quick matches to gain more experience and learn the game more before going back into Ranked to level up more.

Mixing the Mishima play style with Raven is nearly busted. And I'm just loving it. He's a phenomenal character. I'll say one of my biggest problems I had using raven in tekken7 is I never could put a game plan together because it was so many options I had. I would go into a match and just freestyle with raven and It had an 80% success rate. At first I had the same problem in tekken8 but I know the character well so it still worked out. But now I have a game plan. So it in short, it works like this if the opponent is mashing and challenging alot I'm using counter hit set ups. If the opponent is playing very defensive I'm doing exactly what you said to do in this awesome video! I can't go into the full details because it's a tone of explaining. Lol

Excellent vid. Replay system in tekken 8 is great, the fact you can " play " The replay and understand Whats gone wrong. Watch your replays, especially the losses. Keep going , you are helping a lot of raven players

To be honest I’ve been using Raven since tekken 6 and really nothing but him. I still till this day have a nasty habit of using a move I never see you use in your gameplay and that’s back turn down x if you’re playing the p5. Advanced players always punish that. But one day when you’re free would love to fight and you give me single tips. Enjoy your vids

love the videos man, not sure if you have thought of this but id love to hear how you take info in from watching replays! maybe a replay where you feel like you were respecting the opponent too much? I personally love to go through ravens entire movelist, then watch a select few replays I struggled with, and see if maybe im being to linear with my move selection.

This video is something I was really in need, after learning the best neutral moves, some tips about how to try conditioning the opponent and the proper trial and error approach feels like the best next step. Still, the biggest problem I'm having as a beginner is not exactly Raven related but I'd like to ask anyway: I feel like my opponent moves are always safe, while whenever I even dare to input a direction I'm launched out of nowhere, so my "playing" time is so little compared to the time I wait to get control back, which is kinda frustrating and also not ideal to be actively learning. I know this is not what is actually happening and my problem is mostly due to being a total beginner trying to main a character that isn't suitable for mashing strings, but I'm a bit at a loss regarding what kind of guide am I even supposed to look for. Beginner guides start from "3 is your right kick, 4 is your left" , then there is a gap of info about how to play out neutral or how to stay safe, and a direct skip to punish, sidesteps, throw breaks etc which feels a bit...too advanced. I felt a bit of improvement after checking some character specific punishment guides and labbing some matchup, but I steel feel what I'm lacking are general Tekken fundamentals (I only recently learned for example that directional inputs must be kept pressed to actually make some strings possible...like in chaining ff3, 1), anyone that could point me some resources about this kind of stuff? You know, the thing you should really take in as a beginner, immediately after move notation 😅

Remember in t7 maven, there was this setup after a combo to do qcf1,2 where they would get a a high wall splat and you could cover the rest of the distance with the unblockable? I wonder if it's still there

With Master Raven in Tekken 7 I reach it Tekken King Rank. On Tekken 8 I am currently at Kishin Rank. My mains in Tekken are Raven(I mainly use Raven because he resemble Naruto characters in his unorthodox fighting style approach and because he's very unique and authentic, he's my trump card back from T5) and I admit it that If you don't adapt to his matchup he can definitely be annoying to fight against him. Hwoarang and Jin( these two are like the symbol of Yin&Yang☯️ in my eyes, they were my mains when I was starting to play Tekken 3 for the first time many many years ago, I also like it to use Eddy Gordo as well because of his Capoeira style of fighting). ☯️🤷🏻‍♂️✌️

What’s your opinion on Raven’s qcf2? I’ve been using him in Vanquisher level and it works well, but I never see you use it, so I’m curious what you think of it

I hit Garyu a week ago and have def plateaued. Just being agressive gets me CH launched/crumpled as I lose every trade. Then I started trying to play defensively and punish but that just gets me overwhelmed by offense. Looked at replays and out of like 5 replays I looked at, literally 1 suggested punish was a launcher. Feels like punishing with 4,1/2,4 gives me 25-29 dmg and thats it, worst case if i dont turn back immediatly i just get hit in the back into 50% hp as people do not respect the BT. The only threat is snake edge which can be reacted to. Feeling kind of at a loss.

Do you recommend any other moves for starting bt pressure or is db2 that much better? Sometimes I use f3b, fff3 and b22. Fcdf3 I should probably use more.

Emphasis on rewatching your replays. Not only do you get to see the scrubby habits you should fix but also the game tells you what optimal punishes that you should use after blocking or they give you the break input ona throw that could be messing you up. For ex Steve has a throw that i kept teching with 1 or 2 instead of 1+2

So wait if I got that right: if you're getting costantly stopped while doing mids you should aim for lows to force them to crouch so you can use mids again, right? But what happens if they block my mids and also LOW PARRY my lows? How much am i dead at thar point?🥹
