Episode from the experiment results series based on specific oil, specific car/engine, specific usage. Kinematic viscosity is lab tested (the viscometer used for testing is Stabinger SVM 3001). The threshold value is set at +/- 15%. If the engine oil changes viscosity beyond this value due to usage, it should be considered that the oil change was done too late. Otherwise, extending the usage time can be considered - additional laboratory tests are necessary in this case (TBN, TAN, wear elements, etc.). The episode also includes oil spectrum recording in infrared (Nickolet IS10 spectrometer). Additive degradation, antioxidant levels, oxidation levels, nitro-oxidation, sulfonation, fuel unburned content, etc., are checked.
The car photos shown in the video depict the actual car used in the tests. Laboratory recordings also reflect the scope of the conducted analyses.
