People who truly care about what they do want to help others do well in that field. All of the chefs and normals on sorted do this, and you can tell they all like each other. If your guy friend isn't screwing with you, that's when you know you aren't really friends. Guys screw with each other, it's in the DNA. But being snarky or insulting isn't bad, if it's done in good fun.

His coaching style is fantastic. Leads them to their own answers instead of just giving them, is brutally honest but never comes across as mean spirited in any way. Walking that line betweent telling someone you know they can do better without making them feel like they've failed is super tough. He's an excellent teacher

And it’s a weird thing to get wrong too because it’s so easy to remember. 100g -> 1 egg. I was going to say that the only recipe easier to remember is pound cake but actually there you have to remember 4 eggs (which I suppose is 1 egg per ingredient but it’s still adding complexity)

The great thing about this format is that it shows that you can cook a fairly decent dish even if you are a normal, but it clearly highlights the differences between a trained chef and home cook. Sometimes when it is only Ben or Kush cooking, their methods and thinking seems so obvious, but this simultaneous stuff really directs the attentiton to the differences that can add that extra touch.

What I love about Kush is that he may be harsh at times, but always follows it with advice on how to improve and fix that mistake (unless it's something they already know). He cares about food, and he knows they care about getting better, so he helps them. And help sometimes has to be blunt. It's just good mentoring! And yeah he's snarky, but he's thier friend, it's all within the bounds he knows they're comfortable with. It'd all in good fun :)

Love watching Kush in the kitchen. It just flows, so organically. It’s always a pleasure to watch a master of their craft at work, all the more so when they share what they’re doing and why, and he’s really grown into a very capable instructor. Love the way he not only critiques Jamie’s dish, but tells him how to fix the issues. I really like this format. Kush is a natural teacher - a very skilled chef who is willing to help and guide the 'normals'. He is the antethesis to Gordon Ramsay (and I do like GR but would not want him coaching me). Would be interested to see some episodes where a 'normal' is given a dish to cook and then Kush (or Ben) asks them what their plan is and helps them, on an ongoing basis, refine what they would have done into something achievable but more chefy
