I’ve been very wary of her since she moved out to the woods and started getting more and more “crunchy”. Even a bit before. She had fought against using antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications for a long time, and although there’s nothing wrong with that, she had obviously needed them. I very much had the feeling that if she was fighting that hard against psych meds, she probably had some issues with believing mental health issues are real. Even when she would acknowledge mental health struggles, she would then talk about the therapy she is involved in. I don’t remember the name of it, but it is largely “crackpot” therapy that has been denounced by most real doctors (and by doctors I AM including psychologists). Now she is trying to take herself off her psych meds again because she has some kind of brain fog issue with them, which is fine, but she so obviously still needs to be on something and should try a different medicine. Basically, although she says she’s not anti-med or anything, I do not believe her, and I get angry that with her following she is implying how people should be treating mental health. And that’s just my FIRST issue. The LGTBQ+ thing is a definite dealbreaker though. I’m done.

Schools aren’t teaching sexual orientation, that’s a myth made up to justify homophobia. Like the Florida laws that were passed ban teachers even explaining if the occassion arose that some people have two moms or two dads and that’s okay. In terms of sexual education, schools do need to be involved when kids are around puberty age, and no one was trying to teach that at an earlier age. Even then, my parents had to sign a permission slip for me to be allowed to be taught that, and my mom didn’t sign, so I wasn’t, and it hurt me in the end. Teaching sex education also includes teaching kids consent and what is and isn’t okay, and it’s through sex education that a lot of kids first realize that the sexual abuse they might have suffered at the hands of family members was, in fact, abuse, and prompts them to reach out for help. I could have avoided actual grooming by an adult male family member had I been informed in sex ed what grooming by an adult looks like. The fact is that a lot of peoples’ parents suck and there are still people who disown/beat their kids for being gay, so why would those parents teach their children about sexual orientation if they see being gay as unacceptable? Also, most often, sexual abuse perpetrators are family members, and if the perpetrators are one of the or both of the parents, there’s no reason those people would ever teach their kids about consent either.

It is no one's business how anyone parents their kids. Many people are homeschooling their children because of what is being taught in public schools. Some of the material is not appropriate for young kids. How does not wanting your young child to be exposed to inappropriate material turn into "you might as well say you don't like gays"? There are ways to explain and show your kids that we all can be different. There is evidence that she supports anti-LGBTQIA+ rhetoric. I have no interest in seeing her canceled, but her followers deserve to know where she stands so that they can make an educated decision about whether or not to support her. She built her brand in a very inclusive community by appearing to be an ally, and now she is appearing to not be an ally. She can build a new (and possibly larger) community of people that will align themselves with her beliefs, and the people that don't can find other content creators who foster safe spaces for them. I'm sure I'll get shot for this but I'm not a follower so I'm gonna say what I feel. I homeschool never I believe public education has gone to shit. Teachers are underpaid and too much stuff is being ignored and pushed under the rug, such as innapropriate teacher student relationships, bullying, etc. I stunt agree with most of anything they teach or kids as far as history goes, beggar it's all coming from books that were written by colonizers who want white america to seem like we've always been the good guys, abs that is some total BS. How can our kids learn to do better, if they are being told lies about our history. I teach my kids the facts!!! Another thing I highly disagree with is the school system dictating my childs beliefs, or teaching them ANYTHING about sex, sexual orientation etc. That is my John as a parent to make sure my children are properly informed so they can make well informed decisions and be free thinkers. Not just following the flock like so many others do. I don't care what your sexual orientation is nobody had the right to patent my child. My children are my own. I will raise them to know about Having faith in a higher power and not force them into religion. I am not going to raise my male 5 year old son telling him that because he likes to dress up or play with a kitchen set, he's gay. Kids at this age don't see color, they don't hate, discriminate, or think like this yet. This is all comes from others hate and influences to push them into their way of thinking. From people who feel that their way is right and everybody else with a different opinion is wrong. I believe we should raise our children with truth, facts, integrity, empathy, faith, and make sure our kids have our support. We as patents are not put here to cause our children more internal conflict, or add more stress amongst the stress they deal with already amongst peers, our community, social media, etc. I would hate to grow up in these times! I am not going to hate a parent because they want to homeschool to alleviate the extra bs our kids don't need. I won't condemn a parent that doesn't support schools having so much control over our kids. I chose to have kids and it's my job as a parent to raise them into good humans. I want my child to be a child, love, learn, and be subjected to positivity. If they reach a point in their maturity that they have already learned about sex, and they feel they may be gay, bi, straight, etc. I want them to come to me and their father and know they'll have our love and support unconditionally. BUT I want THEM to come to that determination on their own. Not because somebody is talking to them about stuff they are way too young to understand. If that is being a bad parent, and if that locks other parents who chose this way of parenting into a category of being "bad people", well then add me to that list.
