I don’t think the employee would’ve been able to do something that big without Marlena’s approval though. It was definitely unprofessional at times, but I feel like Marlena genuinely trusted Jaclyn and told the employee to just go ahead and push it through.

I've never seen anyone behave so unprofessionally during such an important part of the process and transaction. It's almost like she wanted makeup geek to fire her. The whole time you can see they're trying to gently rush her, and she was the one that delayed the launch. She seems pre-occuppied with something else more important, and to me it was obvious that she was stringing them along from the very first emails. One more thing... how could makeup geek as a company go through all that without having her sign a contract first. What kind of business does that? That shit was dumb.

Karen Allan what I mean is although she kept in contact , she was obviously keeping them on a string and didn’t seem at all interested in the project . If she was so overwhelmed, she should have delayed the entire project before anything was ordered but she’s so money hungry she had multiple launches that were conflicting , she even said Becca was annoyed with her conflicting contracts . She also said to go darker on the brown shade and when they did that it was TOO dark . I don’t even think her mother knew she had told them to change the shade . What the emails sounded like to me is that she wasnt communicating well with them and they kept having to nag her to give them a direct answer for questions they have . Jessica S think that MUG employee was let go at some point. The horrible thought occurred to me that this may have been why. If she was responsible for securing the Jaclyn Hill contract and ended up ordering all that product, that may have led to her being terminated. And this is what actually goes on when an influencer collabs with a brand. They all say "I worked so hard for months, years..." but basically they just approve shades and give their thoughts on formulas. But the brand is the one dealing with everything.

I know that the influencers are just that, and they are basically putting their names on products and picking shades. Yes it's a long process to make a product, and you do have to go through a lot of samples and convince a brand to better the formula maybe, but let's be real... It's not hard work for the influencer AT ALL.
Girl, I was about to comment the same thing! No wonder it takes this woman years to come out with 1 collab, they’re going back and forth over emails!! It was irritating with each one. Why not hop on a plane once a month? See about getting a hotel or Airbnb for a month to hash out the fine details or anything, my god. And having to occasionally go through her mom on top of it is so weird, even if her mom helps out with her business coordination, MUG doesn’t need an email from your mom saying you’ll get back to them, just get back to them! She’s exhausting.
Ariana Holmes I noticed in a recent video, her mentioning something in regards to why she doesn’t have her own makeup line and her reasoning was very off putting to me. It was something about all that goes into it and all the things that can go wrong but when it’s a collaboration you share that responsibility with the brand. If it’s your own make up line it falls completely on your shoulders. I’m paraphrasing, obviously, but she was basically saying that she doesn’t want to take the hit when things go south, she’d rather shift the blame to everyone else but her. And I do notice that she does that a lot.

Imagine working for a company and taking your sweet ass time with real work and real deadlines. Imagine dictating prices to that company because you don’t agree with their price point (seems like she pulled a figure that just looked reasonable, no research, just compared to Urban Decay). Imagine not responding to emails in a timely fashion. Imagine not producing basic work for them (signatures, logo, testing product, coordinating a photo shoot or taking headshots - not rocket science, this is her line of work). Imagine not signing an important document and dragging this company’s livelihood. Imagine never once being fired for any of that. Yep, that would never happen in real life to us real folks. JH is irresponsible, entitled, and completely unprofessional. I can’t believe brands still collab with her. Her collabs are ALWAYS problematic. And history repeats itself. For anyone considering a future collab, I am not going to be sorry for them because that would be their own fault. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. 🤷🏻♀️
How did she not find a single day in all those months when she could have taken a picture of herself or a single moment she could have answered an email? Were you not on your phone the entire week you were sick? Did you not send a single text message that whole week? How do you write your signature 1 time, decide you dont like it, and have to wait until the next day to try again so you can take a picture of it? If you do makeup for a living, how do you not find time to put 1 single eyeshadow shade on your eye to tell them what you think? This is flat out laziness and lack of professionalism.

I had a personal interest in design and beauty so I taught myself both (like building a portfolio and keeping up with the beauty industry) and landed the job by basically begging for an internship and making sure I proved myself useful during that time. Everyone I work with ended up there in different ways...but I'm more on the creative side than the beauty side so I don't have a ton of advice in that front. But beauty is a business! So any role that would be a part of a typical company is also available at a beauty one and the key is to just get in the door...after that you can move around. I met the lady who hired me at a bar so never be scared to like CHASE that job. If you want it enough people will notice. I BELIEVE IN YOU GURL

She wasnt even doing the real grunt work all she had to do was check to see if things were to her liking and give feedback. She just seems to not have wanted to do the collab and was not upfront about it wasting everyone's time and felt that there would be no repercussions as she never signed a contract.

That MUG employee reminded me why I can't work in customer service. I would have lost my shit going back and forth with someone that can't even answer emails timely and doesn't respond to all questions, just some! She's overrated to be honest and people are starting to see her real side.

I AGREE!!! how on earth did that person keep their cool with JH? She was so s l o o o w doing everything and obvs her heart wasnt in the collab. E.g. not testing the samples immediately upon receiving them in the mail, not being clear with box design, sending her scanned signature over etc.... she's awful.
