Greetings and welcome to Gold Country SRA!
We had another 1/32 scale slot car race this weekend at Grizzly Mountain Raceway. While we did get some video content that's getting put together now, make sure to watch these Raw Footage videos to get your immediate slot car racing fix!
In the video you'll see two NSRs, a Black Arrow, and a Scaleauto battling it out on track. This is an open class for us so most cars are running 25k rpm or 30k rpm motors with all the special race bushings, guides and other goodies 😁 the fastest cars were doing 6.0-6.4 second laps!

As a young man I raced slot cars in Columbus Ohio. Your track awesome...I really dig it. Smooth, flowing and a great layout for the footprint. A drivers track. Someone really gave that track a great personality.

One of the better tracks I have seen on RU-vid. One complete loop with a decent straight section and a decent section with curves is all you need. You could probably increase the length of the track within the same overall table size, but that would just add complexity and cost without adding much to the overall racing.

Track used to be a commercial one at Sidewinder Raceway in Rancho Cordova, CA. The owners Bill and Billy built this track specifically for racing. Yeah 2 or 3 lanes would have more space to use but likely detrimental to the racing. Even spaced lanes all the way around allow for cars to go 4 wide at any time, only the drivers have to be on their toes. The tracks they built were always top flight and excellent racers, 4 of them are still with the club and a couple others had their direct input 👍

I wish, there was a club track in Chico! Ive got a track in my upstairs that isn't big, but is good for racing.

I hear ya, it's hard to find home tracks with good size and nice racing. If there's a group of racers up there see what's cooking 👍 The routed tracks are spectacular if you have the space and some woodworking chops. There are a few racers around here and in our club that will go to the races at Fast Track Hobbies in Rocklin or Motown Raceway in Modesto. Good spots to check out the scene and get to know some guys 🏁

Many thanks 🙏 the track belongs to Paul but it was built by Bill/Billy from the since closed Sidewinder Speedway in California. Routed mdf by hand (but with power tools haha). This track, in many ways, serves as the model for how most all the tracks in our group were built. The track is meant for 1/32 scale but lane spacing does allow for 1/24 cars as well 👍

How does this work? I'm genuinely curious. Do players decide the speed of the cars via controls? What other inputs are used?

It may be a bit much to explain here but basically each driver has a controller plugged into their lane and a car that they have tuned to compete. The cars have a LOT to consider like engine rpms, gear ratios,weight distribution, suspensions etc. The controllers, generally, allow for changes to brake pressure and power band of the specified or chosen motor. So, yes. The drivers determine the speed and not wreck the car, but proper tuning will do most for car performance. Like most all motor racing but they are toys and 1/32 scale 🤣

Forgot to mention, the speed is controller by trigger in the controller. Like the pedal in cars, all the way depressed is full throttle

@@GoldCountrySRA Thank you for the detailed reply. Appreciate it 😄. Learned something new. Its pretty cool to think these miniature cars have a lot going on in them. I just assumed they're running on batteries and motors.
