Also anothr thing is the phone used as the brains or do you have like a raspberry pi
Thank you! Yes all the parts are 3D printed. I haven't released anything yet but I am going to, soon. The "brains" :D is an Android app that is running on the phone, which controls the servos via a servo controller in between. Have fun with your new 3D printer and stay tuned for the parts.
My dad got me a 3d printer as a gift recently (still watong to get it) and I have a character that uses hexapods of minions! I found your videos and really enjoy the model and creative programming and engineering to get your hexapod looking so lifelike. The on/off sensors at the bottom of each foot is a creative way of letting the robot keep track of its positioning! I was thinking of potentially using a wii nunchuck as a wired controller for a bot like this for easy one-handed controlling with a kind of gyroscope sensor like the one in phones and a joystick. Also oartly because the idea of a robot being walked like a dog on a leash is amusing. Do you think a nunchuck controller is feasible with the range of motion of a hexapod or no?
I totally agree that walking a robot on a leash like a real pet is super tempting! :D I actually gave it some thought myself too. But at the end I decided to keep it wireless. And I can still put on a leash on it just for the show if I wanted to! For the wii nunchuck, I think it is doable and will make an interesting project. But you will be limited to the very few options that you can choose on the controller. But in general, I strongly suggest going wireless if possible. Things constantly break in these projects and a dangling wire in the middle seems like a ticking failure point to me! ;)
