Raw Old School '68 Chevelle Doing Burnouts

This car is such a cool old school build. 600hp & over 500 foot lbs of torque with a NASCAR transmission makes for some serious fun and some great burnouts! And I'm barely hitting it in this video. The owner says it'll doing hard pull burnouts through 3rd gear. I'll see if I can get him driving and we'll do a follow up and shred some tires.
Enjoy!

I love the 68 chevelle tha most of all,because those skiny tail lights. My sisters husband had this year, and at 11 years old riding in that thing was so cool. He had it jacked up with big wide tires on tha back, thin up front.....on chrome craiger rims. I remember being in the back seat singing songs played on the radio, and his EQ jumpn...red yellow green lights. 6x9s rockn in tha back,5n quarters in tha.doors. those days were tha best ever. Love your videos. Thanks

Thank you for that drive! Sounds like power from the get go!! The shifting of gears even sounded muscly when you hit 2nd gear, that chirp is music to my ears!! I had ‘71 Chevelle automatic transmission that would chirp 2nd gear, sometimes a light chirp for 3rd gear if I was on it hard and nasty!! Thanks for the walk down memory lane!! I want another one so bad! But due to my money, being on disability and all, might not happen unless “Santa” is feeling like he wants to help me out!? LOL!! Louis Wing, I chose the 1968 Chevelle Malibu to star in my literary work of "An Incubus Behind the Wheel," as a dusty, battered "dark graphite '68 sedan". This work is to be the backstory to "Mineral County," based on a peculiar dream I first experienced in mid-fall(October of 1989) and this work will star a 1968 Chevy Impala custom hardtop sedan as another suspect vehicle. I chose these particular make, models, and year because, for some reason, they have such a rather interestingly eerieness to them. ✍️🏽🪔🔎📘🔦

Give me the 66 through 1970 Chevelle was one of my favorite cars. It had a full frame and everything bolts to it. There were lots of them around and a plethora of parts for cheap. You could just wait till your buddy stacked his and go buy what you needed off him. You know help a brother out. Big block small block 4-speed sway bars posi steel rims. Dollar per horsepower a better buy than anything else around. Heavy enough that you felt safe at a hundred and ten miles an hour. Strong enough that you could abuse the living shit out of it. My favorite was a gold 66 I had. It always had different engines and transmissions in it. It was like the Chevelle kit. You could put it together all sorts of different ways. Sliding left, sliding right, donut clockwise, counterclockwise figure 8, what a great greasy sled, Smokey toasty, banging gears and fucking with with the radio, just burning tire until you let up. No 12s without cheater slicks or wrinkle walls, Low 13's and that big block come on. The big block lunge. It's like when the weight catches up with the inertia and the RPMs Dancing from 3rd gear into 4th. Hours of enjoyment. Some sloppy loose big block you got from a wrecking yard, with an intake Cam and headers, ready to be beaten to within an inch of its miserable life. Routinely, some big block that came out of somebody's flat bottom boat. Frankenstein Big Blocks. Big Blocks out of Caprices or old Impalas, loose 396 with a 427 cam. Why won't this thing blow? This thing should blow. Maybe you're not beating it right? Quick to the cow fields. Smoking weed, drinking beer, listen to The Rolling Stones, Cross up competition, drifting, drifting, drifting look out for the cow, drifting

I want to know the tire size too they are definitely offset. It might be 245/60 up front 275/60 out back. Usually guys go with 275/60 on rear when they run 3.73 but he has 3.55 though.
@daveschannel2027
@daveschannel2027 Год назад
@@gerald506 I I agree 275/60 rear and I believe 265 50 on the front. Compared a lot of pics and it’s not a 235/60 or a 245/60 it’s wider.

anybody thats ever had a car built knows the budget can get as high as the owners money can go, i wouldve guessed more than 100k for that build depending on what they started with

Dynasty 214 obviously you get it. Have probably gone through the process too. 6 months becomes 2 years and $50k turns into $150k 😂😂😂

Notice how it never hit a wall or another car or even some spectators during the burnouts? It's not a mustang...

Yea I thought the original autonomous human eating car was a Plymouth Fury. As a Mustang guy I'm about tired of hearing this crowd control crap.

Two words.... Real Car!! I love the whine of the transmission and a lot more than just crazy loud exhaust.... Just something different! I've seen a lot of interior is redone but I'd have to say stock usually looks a lot better look how clean that is!! Just looks amazing... Nice time machine!

Perfectly executed. I've had a similar build in mind except with a '69 Coronet. Very understated, clean and all business. Cheers

Heard to believe even a simple build like this still cost 100k very discouraging

"Plain" or "simple" is a style not a budget. It's probably still a complete nut and bolt frame off restoration and there goes your 100 grand. Sure you could build a car for a lot less that on the street or on camera looks pretty much just like it but see them up close in person and you'll see where the money went.

Umm... no, he’s not on this one. I’m questioning the horsepower and the cost to build it... BUT, most chevys in the late 60s had 4 wheel discs. I know the 69 Camaro does. I’d bet the 68 Camaro did too. My 68 mustang had discs brakes on the front, from the factory, with the GT package. You all do your homework before runnin yer flappers! Lol

David Oliver Wrong. Most late 60's chevelles had 4 wheel Drums. Standard. Front disc brakes & front only - were a option. No Chevelle ever came off the assembly line with rear disc's. Ever. Show me an rpo code. Show me a factory part #. This Chevelle may have rear disc's but through aftermarket parts only
@danieltubbs5422
@danieltubbs5422 6 лет назад
Wrong, my 69 Cutlass is a high option big engine car and it has 4 wheel drums. Discs were only a front option. Camaro rear discs were an option bred from Trans Am racing and the Z/28.
