Don’t push the snow into peoples garage doors. Just back drag it all to the street and push it off to the sides.

Based on the first driveway, I have a few recommendations. First, push the end of the driveway first and all that snow from road plow at an angle into the bank first. Then back drag whole driveway before scraping, then you don't have to try to get plow over a giant pile of snow to do final back drag. Other than that, once you get comfortable, start trying to run plow and truck at same time rather than being stopped while adjusting plow. You should be able to cut your time in half on these small residential driveways before next season.

A few tips. Take a little time to think through and plan your sites. Come up with a plan with the goal of never going over the same area twice. Back dragging is just for little clean up close to buildings or obstacles or small driveways. Never backdrag across a parking lot. Windrow almost all the time. Only straight push when there is just to much snow built up and you have to just move some. Watch the trail off. No trail off is the most efficient way of plowing. Be mindful of snow build up on the plow, especially when your next drop is a backdrag. Leaving a pile in front of a garage door just kills time. I'm sticky snow like that. I give the plow a little right and left shake backing out of the pile to try to shake a lot off. Be very careful close to already shoveled sidewalks. Swing the snow into the unplowed area and leave a pile before trail off. Then back up and continue on doing that as many times as necessary to not trail off onto the shoveled area. Left the plow going into the pile. It is faster much easier on the equipment. Get wings. Straight blades are the most inefficient plow possible. Keep plowing. Seat time is one of the best ways to improve.

plow like you mow, start on one side, and work your way across, going back and forth, little less tilt on the blade, cover more area per pass, and less over flow on the outside end of the blade. do parking lots in sections, warmer days, try to stay off the lawn, less work in the spring, if you can, mark the edges, or plow all the snow into just certain areas. you'll get it down, keep working on it

I love my snowdogg plow. I don’t do much plowing for residential, I have a “contract” (I plow the road I live off of half of the year) for my road and 2 neighbours of mine, and some family members. My snowdogg works really well in heavier snow, I wouldn’t ever hesitate to do more work but my plow rig isn’t ready to do more work heh.

I’m having the Snowdogg HDII installed on my F350 next week. I currently have a western straight blade, which seems to do the job but the mounted toggle control is a pain. I’m not even sure how old the western is since I had bought it with a ‘96 F250. Have you found any negatives with you Snowdogg? Your original post was 9mo ago so I’m guessing you’ve had more work done with it by now.

@@IDSnowman Yeah, a small snow hit and I found a few flaws with my ‘96 Ram 1500 but the only issue with the plow is that my uppy-downy buttons on the controller failed over the summer. New controller and my plow worked again. I had a Western plow on a ‘97 Oldsmobile Bravada and I had to rebuild the pump. It worked well in lighter snow. Sold the truck and bought the snowdogg for my Dodge.

@@sierrathewolf4174 Thanks for the input. I wonder if the control failing was a fluke or if that is something Snowdogg has had issues with? I tried doing some research on Snowdogg plows but most of what I found was based more on opinion and/or preference of another brand of plow.

Hey there, I messaged you a few ago where I said I was having my Snowdogg installed soon. Anyways, due to numerous and various delays I will finally have my plow installed later today. However, after reading several reviews, I keep seeing that the Snowdogg’s are extremely difficult to mount. The general complaint is that unless the ground is perfectly level you’ll fight and fight just to get the pins to lock. I was wondering if you’ve had this issue? - Or are these just the complaints of people not understanding how to mount the plow properly?

I like to pick 1 side(all the way to the left or the right side), drive right up to the door drop the plow back up while you backing it up have your plow off 1 side and just over lap it, never ever put snow in customer door now either you have to get our clean by hand or customers are going have to shovel it for you, you are spending double of time on a driveway than you should.

Do you have any tips to keep the snow from sticking to the plow? I have some drive ways where I have to put put my blade at an angle and it just piles up in the blade and littler sticks to it I have to take a shovel to it to get it all out and I just deal with that all day it doesn’t slide off like it does on yours

Personally, I don’t have that problem. I use Stainless stall plow blades and snow never sticks, little bits do but nothing worth worrying about. otherwise when I drop my blade the impact usually knocks any snow off. Is your plow steel, poly, or stainless? I’ve heard some people use WD-40 or other compounds to keep their blades slick but I’ve never tried that myself. Might be worth a Google search..

I use ceramic spray wax on my plow before storms that have a lot of heavy wet snow. Also, tap down and up on controller to shake plow after lifting blade to knock any snow off.

diesel fuel use a squirt bottle or something and spray the blade. snow wet stick, we spray it on the inside of the dump trucks when we have to move snow out of lots. never had a problem
