I really like your take about Magic. With the permit locked Witch's Reach system, and us now knowing the planet, Cauldron, is in there that's a big clue to its presence within the storyline. A Cauldron is the source of a witch's power. That Pratchett connection was totally new news to me. Seems relevant, as more than a simple nod.
Pratchett is very well known/read in Britain. I suspect, like so many other references/homages, that it could just be random coincidence or confirmation bias. That said, every idea is worthy of investigation and the journey is far more rewarding than the treasure.

TINFOIL TRANSMISSION FOLLOWS: Has anyone tried feeding the S.A.P Eight to an interceptor? The thargoids appear to be searching for something they've not found. We know they take OEP's. What if, like other puzzles in the game, specifically, Guardian obelisks and the Thargoid Machines/ Motherships that require the correct recipe or combination of items to be presented is what is happening in one of those NHSS debris fields where the Interceptor is not immediatly hostile but looking for something. I have tried it with Soontil relics and earth relics, both are glanced at by the (thin) yellow beam before it moves on as if it isn't what it is looking for. What if they are searching for SAP8+Soontil Relics+OEP from a dark wheel ship? Does the SAP8 have anything at all to do with Thargoids, Soontil and the Dark Wheel?
I know that the thargoid map room reacts to Guardian technology being inserted into it. I wonder what happens if you put a SAP 8 container in there? If it reacts the same way that might be a confirmation that it's guardian tech.
I'm unaware of a connection between crystals and data storage in real life. Quartz is used for the Piezoelectric effect in oscillators and speakers/microphones. This doesn't mean there aren't really good ways to store data in crystals, but if you are purely looking at it from a real-life perspective- which I fully realize you are including other reference- there are many things I would jump to before data storage for a possible use-case.
S.A.P. could simply mean something along the lines of "Storage And Preservation" as it stores those crystals. And the eight is obviously 8 or infinity. Now what the crystals contain or do is a complete mystery. But that they are found together with antimatter and Hafnium 178, which both are extremely dangerous in the wrong hands either mean those three things are used together or just underline their significance and the secrecy and potential danger they bring. Of course maybe you could use both Hafnium as a gamma ray emitter and antimatter as an energy source. so it is likely (if those thress things are connected) that you need a lot of energy to do "something" with the crystals in the SAP8 containers.
Well done, Commander. I am currently off on my own journey, with only my intuition to guide me. Something has called me out there. I do not know what I will find, or if/when I will find it. I am in the Formidine Rift now. Stumbled on to one system, Syreadiae JX-F c0, and found a long abandoned megaship, The Zurara. 7 logs there. I won't spoil it. Plotting my courses manually. Found a fair sized area with very few stars in it. I've been finding crystal shard sites too, near the borders of the Elysium Shores. I will keep going deeper in to the Rift. I really loved the music and footage at the end. I liked the poem at the end of your other video recently. Great videos. I was watching a stream earlier today, about Elite. The theme was " where do you plan to be, when Odyssey kicks in??" Mattius? Or anybody that wants to share. I plan to head to the Pleides and see what changes happen, visually or otherwise. I haven't been out there yet, so I think it will be a very interesting way to begin my own Chapter in Odyssey.
For a long time I've used long distance passenger missions to augment exploration income. You got me wondering if the destinations are hints or clues pointing us to areas of space requiring more careful inquiry.
The hunt for SAP 8 containers was an interesting challenge. I built a ship specifically to chase down the Military Couriers into Anarchy Systems and disable them before stealing their Cargo. It took a while to figure it out as the Ships always had heavy armed wing mates, and always had 3 or 4 point defence turrets that kill ya Limpets. So by the time you have taking down the shields and point defence there’s not much left of the Hull. But if you successfully, disable the ships drives and point defence without destroying it you can rape the Cargo. I have containers of SAP 8 (and even stranger I have 8) on my Fleet Carrier but have not tried any experimentation with them yet. Anyone have any burning desire to test something specific ?
Great video Mattius. I'm hoping with the release of Odyssey we might get a few answers to some.of these rabbit hole mysteries that Elite has sent us down, just one would be nice.

@@MATTIUS also 3 and 7, although an octal is a number between 0 and 7 and can group into 3's to form binary code. This method has been seen in game with the Merope spectrograph. Perhaps an audio analysis of the Sap8 is warranted?
Will check it out in audacity. It does seem that 8 is in fact a special number in this game and elite in general. 8th moon. Octaganol thargoids. 8 galaxies in original elite. I think the number element is worth noting.

Omg this is what I was waiting for! Just got some of those few days ago. I had a few ideas. Feeding it to thargoid interceptor along with some meta alloys, feeding it to the thargoid machine. See what it does. Probably nothing but we shall see. Btw I was bit disappointed they didn't let you talk much in the last elite week podcast mate.

All those things can produce power and probably distribute to utilize such power . If the dark wheel is a low power facility, and dark wheel ships carry that commodity it my tinfoil thought for the day

For real question this time: in this video you said "Often found on dark wheel ships" .... Please elaborate on these ships as a google search turns up nothin of note. There are dark wheel ships roaming about? How are they identified? This might be a very good lead to follow who knows what else they might drop if they exist.
The S.A.P Containers are currently found in High threat military convoys. Basically blow the ships up in these types of signal sources and they could drop out of the wreckages of those ships. They were connected to missions that the dark wheel faction handed out but these mission were removed. Ko.fi work through paypal, so any donation is sent via paypal, just facilitated through ko fi.

@@MATTIUS since i got your attention, something caught my attention. There is a soundtrack title listed Exploration neutral Hoags object. These exploration files i think are when you discover certain objects or systems. Its odd this is listed under exploration since the hoags object is a ringed galaxy outside the milky way. We cant get to it...or can we? There are some other strange "connections", being in the Serpens constellation...its also has a ringed galaxy INSIDE it...a wheel in a wheel...it also has the main star of cornea borealis pointing straight at it as well as the head of the serpens constellation pointing at it....why is this exploration soundtrack in the game if its not explorable? Strange
Two problems with your history there. 1. The Elite Ranked Dark Wheel unique missions were what was removed years ago. Not the SAP 8 cores (supposedly) themselves. They may have been moved to military courier convoys immediately afterwards. We don't know. The wider community didn't pick up on their connection until just a couple years ago. They were simply _assumed_ removed prior. 2. The Dark Wheel faction is not unique in it military courier's contents. Really _any_ system in a state of civil war, with a high enough population, will produce them. No matter what faction.
I've been wondering for a while now (and yes, this would probably be the most anticlimactic way of uncovering what raxxla truly is) has anyone gone through the game files on pc to see if there are any signs pointing to raxxla or even more, raxxla itself?
Extensively. All data in regards to locations are stored server side. So although we know of hints to what is coming, nothing is known as to secret locations or assets that are connected to Raxxla.
