Im so excited by these and i dont even need glasses now! Do they do sunny versions? And i cant wait to see what the photos are like (still watching) because surely its like capturing what your eyes see even more clearly 🙏
@@kiphakes apologies, typed the comment out just before you mention it in the video :D

You have clear, sun, and transition lenses... you can even order any of them with prescriptions if you use prescription glasses... If you do, for example, transtioning prescription lenses, you can use this 24/7 ... even when they run out of juice, they are still glasses!!
Great review. I can confirm that yes, as a blind person, these things are great. It's pretty cool to ask what the AI sees and have it tell what's around me, or what I'm holding(very helpful in the kitchen). Considering that for us, tech that can do these same things are literally thousands of dollars, I'll take the $300-$400 price tag. :)
@@DigitalDiscoveries53 I'm typing exactly how you'd type, I'm just not looking at the keys. And no, I'm not being sarcastic. That's literally how I type. And if I need to proofread, a screenreader on my phone or computer reads me everything so I can correct mistakes
Wow! I’m amazed of how good the video still looked when you zoomed in to full wide screen! I was wondering abut that when I ordered mine. Now I know I won’t be losing too much quality. Hopeful they will add an option to record normally in widescreen soon though. But still nice to see that it’s possibly to edit the videos to be wide screen and still look good. Thanks for this review mate! I’m in Australia here and can’t wait to get mine and try out all the AI stuff it can do. I love the translating stuff! I’ve seen another video of a person looking at a computer screen with a full screen of some other language and it translated the entire thing for them!
I’ve heard the new update gives you 3 minutes of video footage time now,and I’m waiting on a pair being delivered any day now, great video too from you buddy
I’ve been playing with these for a few weeks and love them. I decided to spend more for the transition lenses. The price isn’t too bad considering they are ray bans and very well made. Ray bans tend to come at a little premium. Plus adding the cool tech and new AI features that I’m sure should mature.
But I’ve also noticed that when recording you have to kind of move your head slowly since it doesn’t have stabilization. Can’t wait to see where this tech will be in just five to ten years from now
Why so surprised for the update, the glasses stored in a store for months. Updates are great for bugs and patches. Loved the review it covers everything. I was listening to this RU-vid review while drive with the rayban your voice was to low to listen on the glasses. Looking forward to other reviews 😎😎😀
A very comprehensive review there, Kip👍🏻 I have been looking at these for a while now, and I think I'm now going to pull the trigger! A good, strong tea making game btw👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great video and still examples. I'm ordering my Ray-Ban Metas this week. Some questions: which size frame do you have? I'm getting Transitions, not sure what color to get. I want the darkest possible. Do you know about those? Cheers, Matt
Great in depth review video! Do you know if you can take video footage and photos without having your phone on you, once it has already been connected?
Awesome review Kip ! Very informative , would love to see a live stream from a theme park would be awesome ! I took up your suggestion I didn’t end up treating myself to a pair of these but I did grab myself a new pair of AirPod pros 2nd gen 👍👍👍 keep up the great content man 🎉
44:43 I've been thinking about what if the smart glasses can be made with the glasses retractable that hides or retract when you don't need it and eject in place when you do need it. This design can be handy for work purposes when you only need the glass part of the smart glasses to extract information from things related to work. This design can be versatile to provide comfort by allowing you to use your natural eyes to do regular work and the glass part of the glasses to retrieve or recall necessary information conveniently. 😎💯💪🏾👍🏾
Agreed. I cant use that format and I dont want to edit the clips everytime I record with this. Personally, I wish society would find a way to just keep everything horizontal like our eyes see the world. I mean its pretty easy to rotate your phone to watch vids so cant figure out how this vertical format has taken off. So aggravating to watch clips shot in vertical format on your standard monitor knowing that you have to cut out all those nice HD pixels just to make it fit. So dumb...
They cant go in water but can handle some rain n stuff. But probably not a water park. Phones can these days so kinda sad that these don’t. But ah well
got to say the video footage in the great outdoors wasn't that bad, but also need to think how windy it was on a scale of 1 - 10 with the lowest being the lowest number, might not do for the chair lift in Alum Bay on the Isle of Wight (cliff over the edge of the cliff in the windest part of the island (extreme of the extreme for audio quality testing!!)), but also sounds pretty good for deflecting a fair amount of wind, which would mean the microphone sounds to be on the inside of the arms roughly where the screws are would be my guess.
but for the rollercoasters then yeah would say the microphone would be on the inside of the arms, as otherwise it would just be popping all the time rather than usable sound which is nice.
Can you confirm that you can’t see the recorded content or photos until you get to WiFi and upload them to the Meta or photos app. That was the biggest game changer on why I didn’t buy them
To see the content you just connect to the WiFi on the glasses and it transfers onto the Meta app. You don’t need any other WiFi to get the content if you don’t want to (although you can set them to automatically transfer when on your home WiFi)
@@kiphakes thank you for the reply. this is different then what I read on Meta website. So the glasses has their own WiFi? For example, if I’m outdoors and take a photo, there’s no WiFi on the streets right. I can instantly see what photo I took from the app?
@@kiphakes wow. I’m glad I asked and big thanks for replying. The person at sunglass hut said the opposite and I walked away. I was really let down. So thanks for clearing that up.
@kazemi88 no problem! They are designed for live streaming whilst out and about too, so if they needed to be on a WiFi for that , it wouldn’t work! Sounds like the staff need more training!
Hi great video. My meta ray bans should be with me tomorrow in the post. After watching your video I noticed you using the ai features where u ask meta what am I looking at etc. is this feature available to all in the uk. I thought it was just America that had access to this feature for now. Many thanks
What size did you get? Because there is no flex and no adjustability, I'm considering sending the ones I just bought back because they hold my head in a vice grip (hurts behind the ears and the nose). Maybe my head is just too small for the big ones and too big for the small ones.
Hi Kip, I'm interested in the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses. Can you clarify if wearing them without using the camera features or recording videos will still improve my vision in any way, or are they essentially just normal glasses with no visual enhancement capabilities when not in use?
No, no visual improvements or AR in them.. just normal glasses or sunglasses. Obviously if you have prescription lenses in them, then you will see a difference
Are the dates & time correct on Ray-Ban Meta? Hi! I’ve been wondering. When you download a video to your phone, does the video contain the correct date and time of filming? Or does it display the date and time of the video being imported?
The details of where I got mine are in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TkDTMCfU-U4.html - they are UK based like me, but do ship globally. However I don’t think they accept insurance.

How did you manage to get the AI working in the UK? I thought it wasn't yet available in EU (I'm assuming you're british?)
Wow, very disappointed I am not seeing a setting to switch this awful new fad of vertical (tiktok) video format. Dont people realize that orientation is not compatible with computer monitors and TVs and to be honest, not our bodies either. I mean our eyes are lined up horizontally for a reason. As a species, most are interested in what is going on to the left and right then the sky and ground... Tiktok users have killed common sense. Sorry this is one of my pet peeves so I will take a hard pass on these now.
You’ve got to remember that we’re very much in a first generation of these devices , things will change and develop. I imagine the next generation will have a landscape option too, but I do agree with your sentiments.
@kiphakes I hope it does and if/when that happens, I will glady pick these up! I am worried though that a simply option in the settings will simply crop it to horizontal aspect ratio, thereby shooting in landscape mode at reduced resolution since the hardware will still be mounted for vertical pics... although not sure how camera hardware works in that regard.
