Back in the 80's, those size 54 used to be called the Wayfarer II. And they even had a metal bottom rimmed version called the Wayfarer Max, styled like the Ray Ban Clubmasters.
Wanted to buy the 54s, but because of your video ordered the 50mm. Perfectly fitting, best shades I ever bought (used to wear aviator Style Carrera and RayBan shades, but they don't fit to any style). Thank you
I have the 50mm. And in general I think they look the best on everybody. I think bigger glasses are better suited to larger heads and in oval shape glasses.
These aren't scaled proportionally, so they don't look at all like the same frames. The 54 looks more rounded, and they kind of look more basic, whereas the 50 looks more angular and aggressive. Not the same silhouette. I prefer the style of the 50, but my head's too fat. 😔
I don't understand why they made the 54mm with more rounded lenses than that of the 50mm. For me it's better if they made the 54mm with the same lense shape with that of the 50mm.
@@melvinreygonzales5073 I totally agree! I lost a pair recently that I bought a few years ago and I swear they had the same shape as the 50s but were larger, like the 54s. I’ve been buying pairs from different suppliers and sending them back, hoping that I’d track down a pair. If anyone has any info on whether RayBan used to do a larger pair in the same style as the 50s then let me know
Very informative video! I have bought the 50mm @collection Classic Wayfarer, and I love the look of them. You made me want to grab the 54mm ones now. Thanks for the compare and contrast of the two. You're the man!
I WAS LITERALLY LOOKING FOR THIS VIDEO YESTERDAY. THANK YOU but the 50 mm look good on you. And also, Do you own all the sunglasses your review haha, that's a lot of sunglasses!
Alright, went here wondering how much bigger 54s are and it is quite a difference.. I am very happy with my 50s, I even customized them myself, sanding everything except side logos, painting them with the most dark matte spray paint I could find (For obvious reasons as the glossy finish looked like crap, seeing every fingerprint on them) and then even applying a thin VLT 70% Car Window Tint Foil what now makes it real hard spotting my eyes..
Hey thanks for the video! Do you know if Ray Ban ever did a scaled up version of the 50s? I love the shape of the 50s but they don’t fit my face. I used to have a pair that fit perfectly - I’m sure they were 54s but had they shape of 50s. I don’t like the rounded shape as much on the 54s
Can you please tell me if the arms or legs of the sunglasses are intentionally not symmetrical? One of them is more tilted than the other so when I wore them I can feel how they don’t fit perfectly. Also when I place them on a table you can see it because one of the arms or legs (whatever are called) wont touch the surface.
Carol King I think you are talking about the New Wayfarer (RB2132) which comes in 52, 55 and 58 mm. The Classic Wayfarer (RB2140), as shown in this video, comes in 50 or 54 mm.
Sunglasses such as these going for 130+ Euros is a huge scam. I just can't see how they justify the price. Ray Ban have a monopoly over the market allowing them to do so. That being said, they look damn good.
Dear friend, Ray-Ban official website says, For the great majority of people - more than 90% of their customers - Standard Size offers the correct fit. It is very likely the correct size for you too. New Wayfarer STANDARD size is 55 mm and Orginal Wayfarer STANDARD size is 50 mm.
Definitley the 50mm is the right size I was so Close tp get those, but then i saw the wayferer ease and went for them instead. The original style looks great on you and Its a beautiful style in general. Its Just i found the wayferer ease more confortable and felt they looked better on me.
Can i ask something? Why the 54mm in this video are different from the 54mm of other videos such as the video in which you compare the 54mm with the 50mm folding?
Hello friend, I have a question. I bought glasses Ray-Ban Weifarer, the next day I found a marriage in one ear, I was accepted at the store and told to order one ear for a replacement, not just the whole frame, whether there are original spare parts or only the whole frame ?
My Ray Ban Wayfarer 2140 has had the screw fall out of it's hinge/arms and I want to fix this because I don't want to go out and buy a new pair. Anyone know where I can buy replacement screws? Thanks in advance
Had the same problem but I found a site online that sold a single screw and a pair of Rayban 2140 replacement screws for a decent price. Check it out: www.glassestools.com/products/screw-and-screwdriver-kit-for-rayban-wayfarer-rb-2140-replacement-kit
moya banton I’m not trying to be funny..but back in the Paris Hilton/Nicole Richie days..big sunglasses that covered half your face were in style. I’m sure that style will come back too.
