I was so lucky to be in right place at right time. 1966 I was teaching for DOD in Germany & Mr. Charles performed a show in Frankfurt and I went to see him. Back then my fav song was "Hit the Road Jack". I'm now 83 & still love his songs & piano playing & his incredible voice! I've shared his videos with my g-kids so they could enjoy hi m too. And I point out to them how he was always SMILING! Bet he's still smiling in heaven!❤

This song hits my heart with a hammer. I love this song, thank you Ray. We played this song in my HS Jazz band in the late 70's. I'll now dust off my 100 year old King Tenor Sax. And when I've mastered it again, I'll play it when I leave her; with a little class. 38 years this August 17, 2023.

I was fortunate to get to see Ray at the Super Dome before the Leonard/Duran rematch. He sang America the Beautiful a capella as an introduction to the match. Every hair on my body was trying to stand up. I've never experienced that before or since. The guy was an amazing talent. RIP Ray.
