Man oh man, Groovy Dude is such a terrible fake it is painful every time he opens his mouth. Comfort is an annoying arrogant presence. Saying "I love you" to total strangers is only one of the disingenuous things religionists throw out so easily -- we clearly define 'love' very differently. People should be afraid of anyone who says they know what God wants.

The Navy introduced me to all kinds of weird people who said things like this guy. If I was in God's court on Judgement Day, I'd file a motion to have God recuse himself, since he should not be serving on the bench. After all, he doesn't follow his own rules. Think of all the times something horrible happened and he could have helped people and chose not to. Since he is supposed to be omnipresent, he is everywhere so there was never a place where couldn't help. He's omniscient so he knew it would happen. He is supposed to be omnitemporal so he exists in all times, so there was never a time when he couldn't do it. And he is omnipotent so there was never a situation where he couldn't have done anything. Ergo, he should already be Hell bound himself.

The next part is Comfort saying, "Most people wouldn't use their mother's name as a cuss word." So TBD must have said he would. Well I'm glad we finally got Ray's official stance on the Israel Palestine conflict, which is that he's pro genocide. I guess we could have figured that out based on his previous statements given that he defends the idea of Noah's flood as a moral act, but still it's good that he just admits he's morally bankrupt.

When I was still a Christian I puzzled out the whole Pascal's Wager thing as well as the possibility of "deathbed salvation". When I was still a Christian I wouldn't have actually tried to game the system like that, but I think if someone is confronted with Christianity's set of "rules", it's pretty natural to look to those kinds of solutions to find the "optimized playstyle". If somebody lives a life where they've at some level accepted the premise of Christianity but haven't embraced the faith, then being confronted with it Ray Comfort style (i.e. being urged to repent and join the faith now) could lead to them to bring up that other option, living the life you want to live and then go for deathbed salvation just in case Christianity is true. I could see it.

My default assumption is believers are just legitimately misled by a bad idea. With Comfort, I'm fairly sure he knows he's grifting people, because I posted a civil explanation of why his arguments were wrong, and he replied with something off-topic to me, and immediately censored those replies (and it wasn't auto-censoring, because while saying essentially the exact same civil thing a third time, he missed it and it wasn't replied-then-censored that time). Honestly it's mostly the fact that each comment of mine had a direct reply from Comfort (not addressing my criticism of course, just an unrelated accusation) immediately as the comment got censored that made it clearest that this was manual comment removal. A few of his interviewees over the years have seemed questionable, but it's always a bit hard to tell if someone's just legitimately easily misled or if they're merely acting. Wouldn't surprise me though.
