Awesome playing right there! Ray Gomez outclasses many of his guitar contemporaries with a unique blend of speed, precision, and soul!

Super glad you posted this and and Ray Gomez is extraordinary Precise great feeling and groove One of the greatest guitar players of our time I heard about Ray when I listened to Lenny white's Album Venetian summer back in the seventies that is a great album with his guitar work I'm glad I was here to to hear this music. Blessings to you Ray and thanks for playing that great music.

Ray Gomez may very well be the most underrated guitarist in history.

AWESOME!! Many thanks for this \m/. Ray is criminally under represented on YT, I guess there was just not much videoing back in the day. I wonder where that SLO is now? I know I don't have it, damnit lol.

😂 If you ever meet Ray don't bring up that comparison...

They both played with Stanley a lot. And, quite frankly beck's "Brush with the Blues" was a copy of Ray's "Sweet Life" - I quite frankly think Jeff copied Ray.

@@abrock7928 just looked it up. Yahoo is saying 2000. I was going with late 80s or 90s (also). But I did catch glimpse at the head that’s on top of the Marshall. It’s a SOLDONA head.

No way it's in 00, I met Ray in 2003 and he looks way younger in the video than he did back then.

ok, just found something. I went to his website and under BIO, 1991, is when he did the video. it's on page 4. @@HpPmL

Conoce alguien algo sobre esa stratocaster? parece una serie L con el mástil pintado a 2 tonos. Muy rara.

Very good playing but something is still missing for me with Ray. A lack of melodic fluidity. He seems to always cut off his melodic lines abruptly and they never fully expand into what they could be.

Number one, I would say this not a good example of Ray's playing, where I too can hear a lack of flow. Nor of his technique, where I bet he would want it smoother. But to hear White Night by Walden - or The Sun Is Dancing - anyone would ask, OK, who's the guitar player?
@asegal4677
@asegal4677 Год назад
@@andrewgillis8572 I agree with you. He does have some very good flow on some of his tracks. For me he is a bit hit or miss in regards to fluidity. But he definitely a very enjoyable player, overall.
@andrewgillis8572
@andrewgillis8572 Год назад
@@asegal4677 Prego! In the hands of a producer like NMW you have more than enough flash or phrasing, your choice, from Monsieur Gomez' within hours of his first tracking session. Fewer, the better, and single pass, ideal - my bet, Ray has done this, but also been edited together Z(EG by Grammy-winning Narada) & with fine result. Gig he missed IMO would be Steely Dan - they'd freak on Gomez, surely. The Gypsy Shredder!
@abrock7928
@abrock7928 Год назад
Lack of melodic fluidity? Wow..... this playing is great! The nuances with the whammy, the feel, absolutely awesome. Not sure where you are coming up with the melodic lines ending abruptly - maybe you could get more specific?
