The late, great, Ray Moore, who worked as a DJ on BBC Radio 2 during the 1980's, who sadly died of throat cancer in 1989. Here he sings his single 'The Bog Eyed Jog' that he recorded for Children in Need.
as I remember, when he was doing the early morning bog eyed jogs, he did not seem as sparky as he usually did on his shows… it was later that it hit the newspapers that he was seriously ill. I still to this day have his book “tomorrow is too late”… lovely man
Ahhh it was worth getting up at 3 in the morning and going to work driving me truck, to be able to listen to Ray.. I still call Gatwick, Gatport Airwick as he did.
Never forgotten, always made me smile in the mornings. I still call my wife Management and still think of a mixed gorilla. RIP. PS. My father bought a rabbit but he thought it was a duck....
Of course, the song IS nonsense, but if you'd followed Ray Moore on his early morning show on Radio 2 back in the 80s you'd know what it was all about.
thanks for putting these on,Big Alma and the family enjoyed them very much. it was great to hear Ray's dulcet tones after all these years. love from Management!
Ray Moore was one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. It's very sad that he was taken away from us so soon. I've just posted a BBC1 trail with Ray on OOV. I have miles of videotape to go though and expect I'll find a few more. Love to Alma & Family XX
When you're twelve years old you still find things like hysterically funny. When you're thirty-eight they're...mildly amusing. (And yes I have heard "Springtime In The Rockies" as well!)
With the exception of Ken Bruce and Tony Blackburn, Johnny Walker Radio 2 is a mess, with its current presenters getting mega bucks, Ray wiped the floor with them, fortunately we still have Fran Godfrey and Alan Dedlicote at Mellow Magic and Charles Nove and Simon Mayo on Scala but RIP Ray, Sir Terry, Alan Dell, David Jacobs, Ed Stewart, Jimmy Young, Desmond Carrington
Never knew he had worked on BBC radio 2 or sang songs like these two that I have seen on youtube. I remember listening to his voice overs as a kid and loved hearing what programmes were on in his great style!
nice to hear this again today on radio 2 this children in need day.Quality broadcaster i remember from the 80s.Take note the likes of Ross and Radio 2 management-this was a decent guy who knew what broadcasting was about.
Hi. I'm just about to upload 'Farmer on a bike'. Sung by John Crisp. No video, I'm afraid, just a scrolling text to accompany the song. Should appear in my list of videos shortly, or by the time you read this it might already be there!
I do have that song, it was the 'b' side to 'Eastern Counties Bus' by John Crisp. Not sure if I've converted it to mp3, but if I have and I can find it, then I'll upload it here.
Found it, just uploaded it. I don't think RU-vid lets me paste a link here, so just search for " John Crisp Farmer on a Bike " or go to my latest videos. John Crisp Farmer on a Bike
