As a footballer, Ray Kennedy should be mentioned in the same breath as the likes of Bobby Charlton, Kenny Dalglish and Glenn Hoddle. Ray was such an underrated player during his own career, it brings tears to my eyes re-watching his performances from the 1970s and remembering how little recognition he got. And that's before we even mention how the destruction of his later life by Parkinson's, and sometimes even by the medication he takes for it, has turned him into a tragic figure.
I totally agree...i just cannot believe how a player like that is not recognized on a par with the other legends of that era...Ray kennedy was instrumental for Liverpool n Arsenal...
RIP Ray. You were my hero when I grew up. You were special. I will never forget. Thank you for all the joy you showed on the football pitch! Life long LFC fan.
A cultured player who made the game look so easy. Devastating runner with a sudden change of pace & the sweetest left foot you'll ever see. Farewell Ray.
I was seven years old when my Dad took me to my first match. My home team Yeovil v Arsenal in 1971 . Even at seven I remember the game, the players and the goals. Ray Kennedy was part of my first football experience. He played his part in giving me a life long love for the game. A game I played (badly) and a game I met so many friends and given me so many happy moments. Thanks Ray and rest in peace.
Privilege to watch that Superb footballer didn't appreciate how young he was when he won the double with the Arsenal and then to go onto more success with Liverpool terrific career and a very moving story
What a truly wonderful footballer. I was fortunate to have witnessed him play a few times 1977 - 1981. So humble and modest too. Three extremely rare qualities. RIP Ray Kennedy.
Watched him play for my beloved Liverpool. And remember him playing against us in 1971 for that great Gooners double team. Brilliant player for sure. RIP Ray YNWA
What a pure Ambassador for football . A true gent and an amazin footballer one of the best left footers ever . Shankly's last signing although he never played under him . Paisley seen is talent and played him in a great position. If anyone deserves the adulation of being a Liverpool/ Arsenal/ Football LEGEND look no further . Wish you well Sir Ray Kennedy x
RIP YNWA My dad now in his late 80s always reminds me he was there at White Hart Lane when RK scored the winner in 71 to clinch the title. A working mans game my dad just turned up early to get in. I remember the goal against Bayern and when he hit the post against Italy with that sweet left foot. If only. Great memories. Thanks for uploading such a shame players then needed a testimonial to rely on.
Sheffield lad here 66yrs old, What a player this lad was, very very underestimated in my opinion, never the likes to be seen again. RIP Ray and a massive thanks for the happy times you gave us all XXXX God Rest
Hi. Thank you so much for this - it is brilliant! Great memories. He was one of my heroes growing up and one of Liverpool's best players. Was brilliant for Arsenal as well. Amazing player and an amazing person! It is so sad what has happened to him in his life and to have got this terrible illness at such a young age is awful. We are all thinking of you Ray. YNWA!
@@mariotoast911 Well I’m sure European cup winners medals UEFA cup and super cup will just have to be enough for Europe also won the Welsh cup with Swansea as well as every other domestic honours
Nobody deserves this at aged 35, he was a truly great player with Arsenal and Liverpool and of course England. He will be sadly missed. RIP to a true legend Ray Kennedy.
Ray Kennedy scored goals for both Arsenal and Liverpool. Kennedy won honours for both Arsenal and Liverpool. Six league titles, FA cup, league cup and five cups in Europe. Kennedy unfortunately diagnosed with Parkinson’s. RIP
It's good to see Ray Kennedy now getting the acclaim his talent and achievements merit. He gave balance and shape to the team, could make and score goals, could read the game, be in the right place at the right time, and put people into those players. He had an eye for an opening and could also block and tackle when it came to defence. All great teams need a player like Ray Kennedy. Come to think of it, Ray Kennedy was key in bringing teams to greatness. Bob Paisley knew. I remember him in interview saying that of all the players that foreign scouts took an interest in when watching Liverpool, it was Ray Kennedy. Truly, a great footballer.
RIP ...big man . Great player unbelievabley great affection with a football. Natural talent made football look easy with his ability. Thank you for the Memoires . God 🙏 bless.
Thanks for posting this, Ray Kennedy was one of my boyhood heroes. A wand of a left foot, but he was one of the most truly two footed players you ever did see add to that awesome in the air. He really did have everything in his locker. That goal in Munich is etched in my mind. I remember watching this back in the day. Really brave of him to let the world see him looking vulnerable. Thanks for the wonderful memories Ray

First-time I've watched this "Ray of hope" I absolutely admire him for his bravery .He also is a nice guy and was a superb all round footballer.Good luck Ray.we wish you well.
So many players said that Ray Kennedy was Underrated and this is so true. There should be a permanent marker at Arsenal‘s stadium for Ray considering he was Top scorer in their first double year of 1971 and his header won the League at Spurs. Thank You Ray. RIP ✝️
Thanks Dave... Always loved Ray and when he played well Liverpool played well. Never forget his slip v his old team Arsenal in 1980 that cost his team the double and 40 hours later scoring one of the goals that won us the league... A true legend
Parkinson's is an awful disease and I hope that a cure, or at least better treatments, are found soon. Ray was always a lovely man and a fine footballer. RIP Ray.
