Tony Adams is a legend and so is Ray Parlour. People like these two guys make me proud to be an Arsenal fan. Massive respect. ❤

It creeps up on you. You have a few with mates and then start drinking a few on your own then a few more until it gets pretty bad. You just need to know when it's time to stop or dramatically cut down.

Drinking is brutal if it becomes a problem. Destroys physical health. Funny one because it is so socially acceptable. No one blinks an eye with someone having a few. Even though its not really at all different to most drugs, if had in moderation. Its excess thats always the problem.

that is what happens in some cases Jon. that’s what happened with me. I wish I had known when to stop, before it was too late. it’s difficult as it can become a very central thing in life and that’s not what I wanted.

@@mnb9162 yea I agree with you. I’m upset that I didn’t know when to stop myself and leave it behind. and it’s hard for me also knowing that people very close to me watched, and really didn’t say anything about the situation, even though I was gone way too far with alcohol, DUI, hospital due to accidents, that kind of thing. It was for me to know when to stop and I didn’t. and it’s just hard that one of my decades long friends didn’t who saw what was going on didn’t jump in. that’s hard.

I used to see Tony and ray and some of the other players down at Hollywood’s in Romford on a Wednesday night regular back in the early 90s.

Ifs an interesting thing. The top characters on the pitch. The intense leaders, Keane, Adams, Robson all were pretty heavy into drinking at one point and were known to go over board. Its the characters. Extremes. Good and Bad. If you harness it you get special players/leaders.

I gave up, almost 4 years. You have to want to do it for yourself and your family. Try reading the book Alcohol Lied to Me, by Craig Beck, theres a free PDF of it if you google search, give yourself a break from drink for a few weeks then try non alcoholic beers as a replacement, theres some really great NA options. God bless you. I know you can do it.

7 years dry now. Life is so much better without it. When the time is right you will do it. It’s not as scary as you think. Just believe in your self and say no more. You have to change your habits. Stop going places where there is alcohol and make sure everyone understands your home is alcohol free. Break friendships if you have to. Your life is more important than someone that doesn’t understand that this is something you have to go through. The first 6 months is the hardest, after that you start to see people who drink very different. One love brother.
