I saw Ray Parlour in a pub in Essex yesterday - I told him I’d read his book and liked it, and we chatted for a minute. He was a super nice guy. I’m a West Ham fan and asked him how come he never played for them despite him being raised nearby, and he said “I wanted to win medals mate!” I replied “I can’t really argue with that”

For someone who is fond of AFC, this chap is a legend. Such an entertaining player to watch and a real grafter when it was needed. Whatever the truth of the Hoddle story, it is daft that he left Parlour out of France 98. I am not massively impressed by people who feel the need to be public about their faith, but (if it happened) for a senior manager in a sporting body to use a perceived belittling of his own slightly wack-doodle left-field interpretation of Christianity is appalling. Puerile, petty, insulting, offensive and unprofessional.
How he never went to the 98 World Cup I'll never know until that season I thought he was crap. Wenger helped turned his game around was one of the best players in the Arsenal team that season.
Happy go lucky Parlour! Rinsed in the divorce courts and let down by Hoddle but never looks back in anger. Would love to go for an all dayer with him and big Al 🍻🍻🍻🍻
Should've played for England more. He was better than Anderton. Anderton only got in the England squad because he played for Tottenham and venables and hoddle love Tottenham.
More stories I here about glen hoddle the more I feel sad always thought he was a nice guy but seems he struggled with man management.. as for parlour another great player. Overlooked
