"Shriner's Convention (Knights Of Columbus Version)" is from the album called "Ray Stevens Greatest Hits" and is a collection of ten previously released singles by Ray Stevens, released in 1983 by RCA Records. This collection contains three singles that were released by Monument Records, four by Barnaby Records, and two by RCA. This version of the "Shriner's Convention" was made about the same time as the original and is rare, and talks about the "Knights of Columbus".
One of the selections on this album is not an original recording; "Ahab the Arab" is a re-recording of Stevens' 1962 hit for Mercury Records that was included on his album Gitarzan, which was released by Monument in 1969. Additionally, there are two selections featured on this collection that are album versions; "Gitarzan" is the album version that begins with cheering and applauding with an audience; "Freddie Feelgood" is the version that contains audience noises and was first featured on the album Gitarzan.
Ray has rerecorded The Shriner's Convention a few times over the years, one version was for the movie and sound track called "Get Serious!"

This is the first song of Ray Stevens I ever heard, and I had to pull over and park my car I was laughing so hard.

This is the version I knew as a kid. We had his "Greatest Hits" cassette and it played non-stop on every road trip! I loved The Dooright Family! Brings back memories! :)

The Knights Of Columbus add is the original which was on his RCA Victor album Shriner's Convention. The money he made off the Shriner's Convention album went to the Shriner's for the crippled children's hospitals and burn hospitals

Thanks for posting! I was singing this in my head while cutting the grass this weekend, because I had this tape when I was a kid and I'd listen while cutting grass. Ray is an American and Earth treasure! Everything IS beautiful!

The original! There are small differences with the way he says different things during the song. Same lyrics, just a little different. This is the best one. Thank you!

This version was released as a single in 1979 or 1980 on RCA, with "You're Never Goin' To Tampa With Me" on the flip side.

The little redhead line talks about how she was sent over former the Knights of Columbus. It is a rare, I don't think it was any album other that "Greatest Hits" and "Collectors Edition". And both are out of print.

Ray had to remove the reference to "The Knights of Columbus", since the real KOC weren't amused by the shout out in Ray's song, particularly since the KOC were rivals to the Shriners Club, who were competing men's lodges. Today, women are involved with both clubs and they no longer could be referred to as men's lodges like they were in the past.

At 3:14 in the song when he talks about the "Little Redhead" wearing nothing but Coy's fez, Bubba said: "It don't matter if she was sent over from the Knights of Columbus". And the laugh track is also diff.

Thank you for posting a comment, but this is not the original, as the original is on the album called: "Shriners Convention". This version is off of the album called: "Ray Stevens Greatest Hits". I should know, as I have posted both versions of the song on my channel.

Actually, this IS the original version from the Shriner's Convention album. The reference to the redhead having been sent over by the Knights of Columbus was the version we all heard on the radio back in 1970-something. I was there. The version without the Knights of Columbus line is a remake Stevens did for a greatest hits album when he went to MCA Nashville. RCA refused to release the original masters to MCA after Ray left. I had the 45 with You're Never Goin' To Tampa With Me on the back and I still have that record to this day on the RCA label.

Somehow I like this one a bit better. The music just seems to BOOM rather than blare.

The delivery was better in the original in my opinion. Still, the Knights of Columbus line was a nice add.
