Ray Stevens performing "Teenage Mutant Kung Fu Chickens" live on the CBS All Star Salute To Our Troops in 1991! Also, that's Barbara Mandrell introducing Ray at the beginning! www.RayStevens.com www.RayStevensCabaRay.com
The first time I heard Ray was the song "Mississippi Squirrel Revival" and I became a fan. He is also a good non comedic singer. My favorite song of his is "Thank You" dedicated to our troops. My favorite album is his Christmas album, he puts a whole new spin on the "Little Drummer Boy".
I love the performance...research shows it originally aired April 3, 1991...so this was several months before Ray began his three season run in Branson, Missouri. The song was originally found on his comedy album that year, "Number One with a Bullet". My brother, 8 years old at the time, was really into the Ninja turtle phenomena but this song went over his head when he heard it on my cassette tape. He kept asking "why's he singing about Kung Fu Chickens?? They're Ninja Turtles!".
@raystevensmisic have you ever considered a comedy cartoon based off this song and have this as it's intro kind of like Mel Brooks did with Spaceballs i for one would watch it
I'd call that more of an "animated music video" of the song, rather than "comedy cartoon". I'm guessing Perfect Cell is suggesting something far more involved, and it'd be a ton of work: An actual parody cartoon series called "Teenage Mutant Kung Fu Chickens". That might be taking the joke a bit too far though. :P
