My family still quotes from this song. It's a good way to tell someone you don't want something if you use " I don't like it, and I don't wanna do it, it's tacky". Most times we'll use it just to be silly, this song has brought humor to my family for over 30 years.
I'd lent this tape to a shipmate back in 87 or so & for weeks afterwards,he talked like the guy wanting to "be a pirate like the Pirates of Penzance". The Chief looked at him kinda funny.

My 23 year old daughter puts this record on for her friends often!!! We LOVE it! This is one of our favorites. I like to wait until the first chorus and come dancing into the den singing it. You know, to impress the young people. 🤣😂 (ahem…embarrass her friends FOR her. She’s not embarrassed she jumps right in!) No I am 26 and I grew up on this song, still one of my absolute favorites and will always be one of my absolute favorites. What I love about Ray is that he has this cheap cheesy corny feel to his music videos and it's not cheap feeling it just looks that way and it's so Charming because it's comedy and comedy you don't need a lot of big flashy stuff this is just perfect, I love Ray Stevens for everything that he's done especially the Mississippi Squirrel Revival because I'm from Mississippi.
