Truth be told, I personally think that, even though these ones look a bit more threatening, they aren't as scary as the final product. My reasoning? These Druun have physical form and, as demonstrated fourfold by our hero, can actually die. They are more menacing as sadistic bipedal creatures, but in the same vein, making them look even remotely human disrupts the fear factor that their final counterparts possess: if a foe has a face, a human's first aggression based response is to _rearrange it._ This is not, however, the deciding factor in my opinion. That is born from the fact that, in this particular universe, Raya, Princess of Heart and the last guardian of the Dragon Gem, possesses a weapon that can actually kill these abominations. The simple fact that these monsters can experience pain and death makes it infinitely easier to resist them, and therefore makes it much easier to overcome any fear they may produce. Make no mistake, these beasties are creepy, but in terms of sheer horror and threat, their prime counterparts have them beat. The Prime Druun have no face, no features, no physical form _period_ beyond a roiling mass of material and light that looks like an amalgamation of smoke, tar and Argon gas. They aren't just menacing, they are completely alien, and unlike what is shown here, _they are all but unstoppable._ One cannot kill a Prime Druun, only run from, hide from and deter them. Even if you manage to completely seal yourself off as Fang and Talon did, these horrors are always lurking at the doorstep, ready to lunge and consume any who make a mistake. Their menace is ever-present, and so the fear is never-ending. (Sorry if I got a little morbid. I really like discussions like these. I hope I don't offend you in any way.)
It wouldn't surprise me if it wound up being more than one season. After all, this is just Chapter 1. I believe the later chapter names would be as follows: Chapter 2: The Dragon's Talon Chapter 3: Spine of the Dragon Chapter 4: The Dragon's Fang (Finale) Chapter 5: Heart of the Dragon
I actually have an idea for a sequel for Raya, that being a video game Trilogy that would take place after the film that would include this version of the Druun in addition to a few other antagonists. They would have to be powered down but they would make a great enemies like the machines in Horizon Zero Dawn.
You know, this deleted version of Raya, according to me, has a great similarity with Rawkus, who is Rawkus? Well, Rawkus appeared in episode 14 of the second season of a series that many remember: Hot Wheels battle force 5 (series that they used to broadcast on Cartoon Network). The point I want to get to is that in said episode, which is titled "The Immutable Warrior", it is made clear to us that Rawkus has the eternal mission of preventing any militia from conquering the multiverse, and I say that Raya looks like him because, as you may have noticed in this deleted scene, she also makes it clear that she works alone.
